William’s Product Management Qualifications

Experience level: Product Manager

We all know Garmin for its smart watches and fitness tracking software. As an MBA intern, I moved from advisory of product development teams (my consulting career) to working directly on a technical product development team alongside engineers building, testing, and validating real outdoor sports products. I saw what successful PM looks like, what PM hiring teams look for, and how PMs fit into the organizational structure of tech companies below the C-suite. If you're pursuing a career in PM and think you could learn from my experience, I'd love to meet - shoot me a DM!

About William

🎓🌲🐻 I’m a current Berkeley Haas MBA student and proud Dartmouth College grad who evolved from a clueless junior consulting analyst to experienced and knowledgeable VC investor, product manager, and consulting team lead in the span of just 5 years. 📊💼🧑🏻‍💻Before coming to Haas for my business degree, I spent several years in growth strategy consulting at Accenture, advising Fortune 100 tech companies (mainly in the semiconductors, datacenters, and energy/autonomous vehicles spaces). More recently, I’ve worked part-time in venture capital investing (portfolio, due diligence, pipeline) at Deep Acre and interned in Product at Garmin, supplementing MBA coursework focus in both these disciplines. I love supporting and coaching people who are “right on the edge” of their next jump upwards in the academic / business world – whether that’s entering a top consulting firm, a top MBA/undergrad program, or a pivot into VC or Product – and turning a messy story into a crisp, compelling narrative and balanced approach that will appeal to exactly what admissions and hiring teams look for ✅ When I’m not coaching, I’m probably biking in the woods or skiing down a mountain – so expect a high‑energy, low‑ego partner who shares his mind, keeps you accountable, and makes the process (actually) kinda fun 👀

Why do I coach?

I coach for the simple reason that I know how impactful a dedicated, knowledgeable "insider" mentors can be for career progression and admittance to the top tier companies and schools I am proud to represent. I personally benefitted from strong mentorship earlier in my career, and want to pass that benefit forward using Leland!
