William’s MBA Qualifications

I'm an MIT grad and current MBA student at Columbia Business School, but more importantly, I've spent years evaluating what makes candidates truly stand out. My background in buy-side equity research at firms like T. Rowe Price and BlackRock taught me to identify what's genuinely differentiated, and that skill translates directly to helping you craft a compelling MBA application. I've recently been through the process you're facing. I know what it takes to get into a top program, how to articulate your career narrative when the stakes are high, and how to position yourself authentically in a sea of high-achievers. Whether you're coming from finance, tech, consulting, or a non-traditional background, I genuinely believe every candidate has a unique value proposition. We just need to uncover it and communicate it effectively. Beyond the essays, I'm here to help you think strategically about school selection, interview preparation, and how to tell your story in a way that resonates with admissions committees. No cookie-cutter advice. No generic frameworks. Just honest conversation about your strengths, your goals, and how to present the best version of yourself. Let's make this process feel less overwhelming and more like the strategic challenge it is. You've got this. I'm just here to help you show it.

About William

Intellectual curiosity and problem solving have always been at the heart of my journey. Whether I am breaking down how AI is reshaping society, figuring out how to attack a defense in basketball, or building a Python function to crack a tough coding problem, I have always been energized by the challenge of finding solutions. Along the way, I have learned to blend analytical thinking with teamwork, developed independence as a critical thinker, and discovered the value of resilience on the court, in the classroom, and in the workplace. Growing up as the son of two educators, I saw how powerful it can be to help others unlock their own curiosity and confidence on a daily basis. Career coaching feels like a natural extension of who I am, sitting at the intersection of education and experience. I am excited to share what I have learned, hear your story, and help you write the next chapter.

Why do I coach?

I coach because teaching and mentorship are in my DNA. As the child of two educators, I saw the transformative power of patient, individualized guidance firsthand. Great coaching is not just about imparting knowledge or giving instruction. A great coach helps someone turn their ambitions into a reality by truly understanding each person's unique journey. I believe there are plenty of experts in the world, but far fewer who have the patience and empathy to meet students where they are. It is imperative to slow down and focus on the fundamentals when needed, and to adapt the approach for each individual. Watching my parents change lives over the last two decades taught me that there is no one-size-fits-all solution in coaching. You have to do what is right for each client. I bring this philosophy into my own work as a tutor and career coach, combining my experience as an Equity Research Associate with my passion for teaching. I have seen my students gain not just skills, but also confidence and motivation. I entered this industry because my mentors believed in me, and I now coach to become that mentor for others. I want to help you achieve your goals, just as others helped me achieve mine.
