About Tom
30+ years of working, 5 different sectors, 6 different functions, 1000s of interviews, and now one goal - to help people navigate the world of work. The experience I have helps me focus on the practical elements of job search: CV/profile writing, networking, and interviewing. If you've got a clear idea of where you want to go, I can help you get there. I've helped people from all walks of life, from entry-level early careers, to mid-career pivots, to senior leaders, from all around the world. My career has included leading Early Careers Recruitment at Sky, Head of Careers at Oxford Said Business School, and Amazon, running MBA hiring across EU, as well as leading UK Film & TV marketing teams. In my time at Amazon alone, I interviewed over 1000 candidates as a hiring manager, bar raiser and recruiter. My time at Oxford saw me coach and train over 1000 students on how to interview effectively. I am now very lucky and very proud to partner with some of the top institutions globally as a career coach, as well as interview on behalf of various corporate clients. This combination of coaching and practical experience gives me a unique perspective to help you navigate your next step.
Why do I coach?
I coach because I have a passion for helping people. It all started as a child, volunteering in a few different capacities in my early teens, experiencing firsthand how good it feels to help others. As I started full-time work at 16, I then learned how to look after myself, and figured out how to get a job and succeed in the workplace, often without any help. The next 30 years have then seen me continue to work out what I was good at, and what I enjoy the most. That approach led to me develop a non-linear and very squiggly career, taking in event management, journalism, marketing, recruitment, and ultimately coaching. All roads led to what I do now, taking that accumulated experience, seeing the power of people helping people, and passing it along. I love what I do, and I try to bring a calm, warm approach to focus on pragmatic and practical steps to optimise the various parts of your job search.
