I have 15 years of experience in the hedge fund industry, including as an analyst and portfolio manager at some of the biggest hedge funds and family offices in the world. Over time my coverage has included cyclicals (industrials and energy), technology, consumer, healthcare, and event-driven strategies. I have extensive experience in idea generation, thesis development, and writing investment memos. I am also an experienced portfolio and risk manager, and can explain and demonstrate modern portfolio management and factor analysis tools. About Tolu

I have over 15 years of experience as an investor in public (equity long/short) and private (venture capital) markets. This includes work as an analyst with two of the largest single manager "Tiger Cubs" as well as managing a market - neutral portfolio for Millennium Management. I have also worked for a marquee venture capital firm, consulted for the largest fund of hedge funds in the world, and helped to launch two startup hedge funds. My public investing work has touched every industry, from technology to industrials, energy, consumer, and biotech. My private investing has largely focused on the software industry. Prior to entering the hedge fund industry I was a management consulting analyst at McKinsey and Company. My educational background is in mathematics, economics, and data science.

Why do I coach?

Growing up in Florida as the children of immigrant parents I did not know anyone in management consulting, finance, technology, or investing industries. My journey into management consulting and the hedge fund industry was a series of lucky accidents, beginning with meeting a peer at a business case competition that introduced me to a partner at the Boston Consulting Group. After moving to New York to work in management consulting a mentor introduced me to his friend who worked at a top private equity firm. That friend encouraged me to prepare for buyside interviews and eventually introduced me to Maverick Capital, the first fund I worked at. I don't think the path to a desirable career should depend on repeatedly getting lucky. I want to help those with limited access break through the often opaque application and interview processes to get into and succeed in consulting and hedge fund career paths.
