About Sophie
I am a child of immigrants who understands what it's like to have high ambitions without institutional and generational knowledge. Throughout my career, my mission has always been to alleviate suffering. At McKinsey, I served clients on topics related to education, economic development, and social determinants of health. I also have supported 700+ individuals in crisis as a volunteer counselor at Crisis Text Line. The first time I interviewed with McKinsey, Bain, and BCG, I bombed. I had a rockstar resume, but my case prep was limited to skimming Case in Point and reading cases alone in my room. As a non-traditional applicant, I didn't have the resources and knowledge of what it would take to adequately prepare for MBB interviews. Determined to make a comeback, I reverse-engineered the entire process the following year. I spent hundreds of hours breaking down what it would actually take to get a second chance and be ready on interview day. As a result, I landed a full-time Business Analyst offer with my dream company, McKinsey, where I also served on the Cornell recruiting team. Because of my unique experience, I am well versed not just on what it takes to get an offer, but common mistakes that many candidates make. My journey helping folks land MBB offers started when I TA'ed the Management Consulting Essentials course at the Cornell Johnson School of Business. Now as a Leland coach, I love working with folks to cut through the noise and focus on exactly what you (specifically you!) need to be offer-ready on interview day.
Why do I coach?
Breaking into these prestigious spaces can be life-changing, especially for nontraditional applicants. At the same time, there is a lot of insular knowledge that can be hard to access. As a first generation American, working at McKinsey opened doors for me that I wouldn't have otherwise had. Now, I'm here to pay it forward to other talented applicants.
