About Shreyas
Hi! I’m a medical student at Harvard, but I didn’t take the usual road to get here. I studied public policy and statistics at Duke, then went to Oxford as a Rhodes Scholar for a master’s in sociology. From there I worked in state and federal government on healthcare and disability policy, including Arizona Medicaid. Somewhere along the way I realized I didn’t just want to shape the systems that care for people, I wanted to be in the room caring for them too. So I applied to medical school. Because of that, I know exactly what it’s like to explain a winding path to an admissions committee, and I genuinely love helping others do the same. Before joining Leland, I mentored more than a dozen aspiring med students, several of whom were admitted to schools like Penn, Harvard, Hopkins, and Stanford. Whether you’re coming straight from college or pivoting from another career, I’ll help you figure out the story that ties your experiences together and tell it in a way that feels like you. My style is warm but honest. I’ll give you specific, direct feedback, not vague encouragement, and I’ll be in your corner from your first brainstorm to your final interview. Reach out and let’s talk about your path. I’d love to hear your story.
Why do I coach?
Honestly, because people did this for me. When I was figuring out whether someone with a policy and stats background even belonged in medicine, I had mentors who took my questions seriously, told me the truth about my weak spots, and helped me see that my winding path was actually my biggest strength. I don’t think I’d be at Harvard without them. Coaching is my way of paying that forward. I started mentoring pre-meds informally years ago and found that I genuinely love it: the brainstorming sessions where someone’s story finally clicks, the draft that goes from scattered to sharp, the text I get when an interview invite lands. There’s nothing quite like watching someone go from “I’m not sure I belong here” to walking into an interview knowing exactly why they do. Everyone’s journey looks different, and I’m here to help you make sense of yours with clarity, honesty, and a real plan.
