Sara S. Sparrow Fellowship in Clinical Neuroscience

Yale School of Medicine

July 2018 - July 2020

I was one of three fellows selected for the Yale School of Medicine's Sara S. Sparrow Fellowship in Clinical Neuroscience at the Yale Child Study Center. During the fellowship, I used neuroimaging techniques to investigate the neural mechanisms underlying autism spectrum disorder, leading independent projects examining biological motion processing and the effects of Pivotal Response Treatment on face processing. I also conducted neuropsychological assessments and parent interviews to evaluate cognitive and adaptive functioning in children with autism while participating in pediatric and psychiatry educational conferences. My work resulted in four conference presentations, one published manuscript, and one first-author manuscript in preparation.

MD

2020 - 2025

I matriculated at the Yale School of Medicine in 2020 and graduated with the Miriam Kathleen Dasey Award, presented to a graduating student who, through strength of character, personal integrity, and academic achievement, best exemplifies the ideal of the compassionate physician. During medical school, I was awarded multiple competitive research fellowships, including the Yale School of Medicine Research Stipend and the James G. Hirsch Endowed Medical Student Research Fellowship, to support my clinical research. My work resulted in 15 peer-reviewed publications, 28 conference presentations, first prize for best medical student research presentation at the Connecticut Chapter of the American College of Surgeons Annual Meeting, recognition as an Outstanding Presentation Finalist at the Society of Student-Run Free Clinic Conference, and an invitation to speak at the NIH on biomarker development. Beyond research, I served as student leader of the Pediatric Interest Group, choreographed and performed with Yale's premier hip-hop dance team (Rhythmic Blue), and pursued interests across multiple specialties, earning residency interview invitations from the nation's top psychiatry and Ob/Gyn programs. I also scored a 265 on the USMLE Step 2 CK, placing among the highest scorers in my class. Ultimately, I matched into the Massachusetts General Hospital/McLean Hospital Psychiatry Residency Program, consistently ranked the nation's premier psychiatry residency. I was also one of only two incoming residents selected for the MGH/McLean Child Track, which provides guaranteed admission to its child and adolescent psychiatry fellowship, the top child psychiatry fellowship program in the country.

2014 - 2018

I was accepted to Dartmouth College as an early decision applicant and graduated magna cum laude in 2018. As an undergraduate, I was awarded the Pfizer National Merit Scholarship, received the Adam N. Brown '97 Honorable Mention from the Department of Geography for one of the top three papers of the academic year, and was named a James O. Freedman Presidential Scholar, which funded my undergraduate research. Outside the classroom, I held numerous leadership roles across campus, including being selected as one of 10 emerging leaders in the Class of 2018 to join the Hill Winds Society; serving as a campus tour guide and student government representative; directing ASPIRE, a volunteer organization supporting autistic youth; serving on the executive board of CoFIRED, an immigration reform organization; and leading Ujima Dance Troupe, Dartmouth's oldest hip-hop dance team.
