About Sharif

Hi, I'm Sharif! I'm a rising senior at the Wharton School studying Finance. I will be interning as an investment banker next summer, and have previous experience in investment banking, private equity, and corporate development. I grew up deeply interested in economics and capital markets, which led me to pursue research early on and later transition into finance through hands-on investing and deal work. Before college, I conducted research in public health and economics and spent significant time tutoring STEM subjects. Teaching has always been a core part of how I learn, and I’ve seen firsthand how the right guidance can accelerate someone’s development. I later helped launch a chess coaching program for underserved students, reinforcing my passion for structured, skill-based mentorship. In college, I initially studied economics with the goal of pursuing a PhD, but through part-time roles at investment funds, I discovered my interest in applied finance. I was drawn to the rigor of financial analysis and the opportunity to deeply understand businesses across industries. I transferred to Wharton to further pursue this path and ultimately received an offer to join Houlihan Lokey’s Restructuring Group. Through recruiting, internships, and technical preparation, I’ve developed a strong understanding of what it takes to break into competitive finance roles. I’m excited to help others navigate recruiting, sharpen their technical skills, and land roles that will challenge them and accelerate their growth.

Why do I coach?

Mentorship and coaching have been crucial to my development thus far in life. I worked as a tutor for years in high school in math, science, and chess. At the same time, mentorship has helped me achieve my goals. Upperclassmen at my university were always willing to walk me through technical interview prep, case studies, and other interview prep. Without their help, landing an internship would have been far more difficult. I would love the chance to give back to students without mentors at their school to give them an equal opportunity to succeed.
