About Serena
I’ve hired for Baidu, Amazon, and Meta, three of the most demanding talent environments in the world. Across those companies, and later through coaching, I saw the same pattern: the strongest candidates were not always the ones who moved forward. The candidates who won were the ones who knew how to position their experience, communicate their impact, and navigate the process strategically. That’s where I come in. I’ve helped hundreds of clients prepare for interviews, tell a clearer career story, and negotiate offers they actually deserve. My coaching is built from both sides of the table: I understand how recruiters evaluate candidates, how hiring managers make decisions, and where strong candidates accidentally undersell themselves. At Levels.fyi, I also gained a deeper view into how compensation decisions are made, how offers are structured, and where candidates often leave money on the table. That experience shaped the way I coach negotiation: not from fear or guesswork, but from data, positioning, and leverage. My goal is to help clients stop treating interviews and negotiations like a guessing game. I help them understand what companies are really looking for, show up with confidence, and advocate for the offer, title, and compensation that reflect their true value.
Why do I coach?
I coach because I know what it feels like to have to learn the rules from the outside. I’m Vietnamese and first-generation. When I entered the corporate world, I didn’t grow up knowing the unspoken etiquette, how to advocate for myself, how to tell my story, or how decisions were made behind closed doors. I had to learn it on the job. I was fortunate that my career brought me into recruiting and HR, where I got to see the hiring process from the inside: how resumes are reviewed, how interview decisions are made, how hiring teams compare candidates, and how compensation is actually determined. Over time, I realized that so much of career advancement is not just about being qualified. It is also about understanding the system. I’ve seen many friends, peers, and talented professionals struggle through job searches, interviews, and negotiations, not because they lacked ability, but because no one had ever explained the process to them clearly. That is why I coach. I want to share the knowledge I had to learn the hard way, so others can move through their careers with more clarity, confidence, and self-advocacy.
