About Samar
With over 20 years in higher education, including 15 years at Stanford University, I bring deep experience working with prospective and current students in Electrical Engineering, the Biosciences, and supporting programs at the Center for Entrepreneurial Studies at the Graduate School of Business. I’ve worked with students from diverse domestic and international backgrounds, including first-generation, DACA, and non-traditional students, and designed programs to help each individual reach their full potential, regardless of their background. I also hold a Master’s degree in Environmental Education for Sustainability, which informs my mentoring style, helping you connect your experiences, achievements, and goals into a clear, cohesive, and compelling story. I have spent years coaching high school and international students through every stage of the college admissions process, including essay development, application strategy, interview preparation, and guidance on extracurriculars, summer programs, and letters of recommendation. Many students I’ve worked with have pursued interdisciplinary interests, and I help them show how these diverse experiences fit together into a narrative that feels authentic and impactful. Students I’ve worked with have gained admission to highly selective universities, including UCLA, UC Berkeley, Stanford University, Northeastern, Swarthmore, and other competitive institutions. My approach is highly personalized and strategic. I ask key questions and take time to help you reflect, discover what makes you unique, and clarify your goals. I work closely with you to identify your strengths, build confidence, and present your story in a way that is both authentic and compelling. Learning about your aspirations inspires me, and it’s the reason I’ve dedicated so many years to this work. I would love to help you navigate this life-changing transition with clarity and confidence, and to present your strongest possible application. Feel free to book a session to see how I can help you reach your goals!
Why do I coach?
I coach because: 1) I believe that a dream with a plan is an achievable goal. I meet you wherever you are in your journey and work with you to create a grounded, step-by-step plan to help you bring your dreams to life through practical, actionable advice. 2) I believe that every small action has the power to create monumental change in the world. Students often underestimate the value of their experiences, and fail to highlight them in their applications, when in reality those experiences are what make you unique. I love helping you recognize that value, build confidence in your story, and see how what you’ve already done can shape where you’re going next. 3) I love serving as a source of knowledge, guidance, and encouragement. Throughout my life and career, I’ve been fortunate to have mentors who offered guidance and encouragement at pivotal moments. Being able to provide that confidence and peace of mind to others has been a highlight of the work I’ve done in higher education. Coaching allows me to do what I love, and offer that same support to you, helping you move forward with clarity, confidence, and purpose.
