About Robert
Over my career, I’ve grown from a hands‑on data scientist into a leader who develops teams, shapes strategy, and drives solutions that actually move organizations forward. That progression pushed me to deepen my judgment, refine how I communicate complex ideas, and become someone people look to for clarity in the data and AI space. I’ve built a reputation as a thought leader by staying grounded in practical problem‑solving and helping others think more effectively. Coaching is a natural extension of that path — a way to share what I’ve learned and support others as they grow into confident, capable practitioners.
Why do I coach?
I coach because I’ve spent my career solving real problems with data — building analytics solutions, leading data and AI teams, and helping organizations make better decisions. Over time, I realized I enjoy the part where I break down complex ideas, teach the underlying principles, and help people grow into stronger problem‑solvers. Coaching allows me to draw on my experience in data science, AI leadership, and solution design to support others as they develop their skills and confidence.

Security Engineer
Splunk
2025 - 2026
Revenue Analytics Dashboard Delivery Security Metrics Strategy Execution • Led ARR analytics by designing and executing processes that fed a unified dashboard measuring annual recurring revenue for the security organization; applied advanced data reduction techniques to tame inconsistent, multi-source datasets. • Delivered executive-ready dashboards that surfaced KPIs across key security functions—including Customer Engagement, Technical Process Management, Governance, Metrics as a Service, and Process as a Service—enabling leadership to track performance and drive accountability. • Analyzed Splunk ES8 onboarding and advised the SOC on optimization strategies to ensure timely, accurate population of critical fields required for reporting and operational visibility. • Served as SPL SME, coaching teams across the organization and designing high-quality searches that supported daily operational needs and emerging analytical demands. • Drove cross-functional data strategy by establishing standards for data hygiene, field normalization, and KPI alignment across security sub-teams, improving reporting accuracy through applied ML and reducing manual reconciliation cycles by 80-90% per group. Senior Information Systems Security Engineer
Wintrust Financial Corporation
2020 - 2025
Rapid Vendor Orchestration Team Leadership • Led an implementation team of two engineers and four consultants to rapidly deploy a complex Splunk cloud-based environment within 3 months to replace and expand beyond the prior SEIM utility. This included the rollout and configuration of Splunk IDM, Heavy Forwarders, Splunk Cloud, Splunk Enterprise, Enterprise Security, and Technical Addons. • Managed the design and implementation of correlation searches to trigger alerts in Enterprise Security for further analysis by the Security Operations Center (SOC) team. • Designed and executed the software development life cycle processes and standards to align goals and objectives with interdepartmental expectations. (Business Continuity, Demand Management, Change Management, Incident Management, Program Management, Resource Management, User Management, Vendor Management) • Utilized data simplification techniques to consolidate related security incidents and utilized data elimination techniques to reduce false positives within results. This resulted in the increased focus by the SOC team towards relevant events and a 90% reduction in extraneous events. Splunk Enterprise Security, Data Science and +3 skills
Manager Data & Analytics
Reynolds Group Holdings
2018 - 2020
Choropleth Storytelling • Introduced a data analytics strategy and tactical plan within an audit environment; documented standards and desktop procedures to enable a service-based approach to analytics. • Using ACL, R, and Power BI, designed a visual analytic for lease management; identified cash leakage for expired leases, critical lease renewal periods, and performed comparative analytics to identify best lease terms for similar product lines to drive cost reduction. • Using ACL and R Studio, implemented vendor and customer analytics to three business channels; determined instances of duplicates, cash management and recovery opportunities, unauthorized vendors and customers, and quantified the probability of fraud for additional investigative work. • Using ACL and Power BI, designed an end-to-end segregation of duties utility for the SAP environment; analysis included an in-depth review how, when, and where transactions were executed for key SAP authorizations and objects. • Conducted in-depth analytics trainings for the audit team and key business partners; this resulted in an increased level of utilization of fundamental analytics concepts in other departments' activities. RStudio, ACL Analytics and +3 skills

Senior Data Analyst
CIBC
2016 - 2018
Teaching Statistics to non-Quants • Identified computational errors, unsupported assumptions, and arbitrary predictors applied to a pro-forma model used to estimate bank risks for a $10B+ portfolio • Implemented approaches to limit sampling risk through applied machine learning techniques including k-means cluster analysis, Bayesian estimators, and multivariate regression methods • Implemented approaches to identify anomalies within data including central limits theorem, Tukey's outliers test, and Support Vector Machine analysis • Developed statistical techniques to estimate control failure impact from exceptions noted during sampling when expanded to population conditions; this was presented to management for a more realistic level of significance when there are noted process exceptions • Designed data scraping techniques for both PDF and online-based files; created a means to classify and organize the unstructured data for reports that were executed monthly at a volume of 10M transactions Statistical Data Analysis, Data Science and +3 skills

Senior Data Analyst
