About Paul C.

Welcome to the profile of Dr. Amajor, the Director of Healthfirst's Community Engagement Health Equity and Strategic Initiatives at Healthfirst, the largest not-for-profit healthcare insurance provider in New York. My relentless work on multiple initiatives to advance health equity and close the health disparities within Healthfirst’s 1.9 million member lives is a testament to my passion and dedication. I am a healthcare leader, board member, executive advisor, and a relentless advocate for better health outcomes. I engage critical partners across the healthcare system to implement equitable population health strategies that address the social needs encountered by their members. I also strongly believe in utilizing trusted community voices and channels, such as Faith-based organizations and institutions, to improve the health and well-being of the community we live in and serve. My health equity expertise is theoretical, practical, and impactful. I have developed various value-based care strategies for organizations and critical partners, helping health systems and providers have a holistic view of their member population. My work has identified opportunities to close care gaps and reduce the total cost of care in the long run, instilling confidence in his ability to make a real difference in health equity. I teach the Social Determinants of Health course at the University of Texas and have also given various lectures at Rutgers Business School. I received my Medical Degree from the University of Oradea, Faculty of Medicine, Romania. I also received his specialized master’s in healthcare services management from the Rutgers Business School in Newark/New Brunswick. I also hold a Certificate in Healthcare Change Management and Executive Healthcare Leadership from Cornell University and a Certificate from HarvardX in Improving Global Health, focusing on quality and safety. I sit on the Advisory Board of the Rutgers Business School Healthcare Analytics and Intelligence program. I also sit on the corporate board of the 100 Black Men of New York. I am a member of the American College of Healthcare Executives and the 100 Black Men of America. I am the founder and convener of IgniteMind NG, a Nigerian non-profit organization with a vision to bridge the gap between aspirations and opportunities, enabling young professionals and individuals to unlock their full potential and become active contributors to their communities and the nation at large through mentorship and programming. I am also a former executive member of the Africa Policy Conversation. In 2023, I received the White House Lifetime Achievement Award for community service (youth empowerment). I believe in the power of mentorship, which is not just a belief but a guiding principle in my life. My involvement in helping young professionals navigate life and achieve their professional goals is a beacon of hope for the future. And my commitment to youth empowerment is unwavering.

Why do I coach?

As a first-generation immigrant, helping young professionals grow is a strong passion of mine. I have been fortunate to have mentors and build a strong career over the years. It was not always easy, but having the right support helped me climb the corporate and non-profit ladder at a quick pace. Having benefited from such support, I continue to work to mentor and support young professionals attain their career growth.
