Carried out yearly valuation of all collateral pledged by customers as stipulated by IFRS. This is done to ensure that the value of the collateral exceeds the outstanding balance on the loan. Reviewing the financial statements as well as calculating relevant ratios of customers seeking for loans to ensure that the risk of customer default (credit risk) is minimized. Monthly review of management and financial information systems to ensure that accurate information on the state of loans granted gets to management in a timely fashion to enable management make quick decisions and recommendations on defaulting loans. Monitoring of temporary overdrafts (TODs). TODs are short term loans, usually tenured for 30days, granted to customers to enable them meet immediate shortfall in capital. Strict policies are placed on the repayment of TODs by the bank and we ensure this policies are followed through. Carried out the release of shipping documents. Shipping documents are released to customers so as to enable them clear the goods they've imported from the ports. Before this shipping documents are released, the customer's account is analyzed to confirm if payments have been made on the confirmed/unconfirmed letters of credit opened to fund the importation. Security documents are also released to customers after the complete liquidation of loans granted has been confirmed by the Risk Management department.
