Dental School Admissions Consultant and Pediatric Dentist

Dr. Allan is a pediatric dentist with over ten years of experience in clinical practice. She has a passion for mentoring students that began in college. She obtained her Bachelor of Arts in Biology from The University of Texas at Austin. She then went on to attend Arizona School of Dentistry and Oral Health where she earned a DMD as well as a certificate in Public Health. Dr. Allan is delighted to have the opportunity to give back by helping students achieve their dream of becoming a dentist. Dr. Allan's dental journey began in Austin, Texas. She graduated from the University of Texas at Austin with a BA in Biology. She discovered her predilection for advising while working as a Sexual Health Peer Advisor where she counseled students and answered their questions regarding reproductive health. Following dental school, Dr. Allan moved to Louisville, Kentucky where she worked for one year as a general dentist at a local family practice. She quickly realized she enjoyed working with children and adolescents which led her to pursue a pediatric dental residency and earn a Master of Science in Dentistry and Pediatric Dental Certificate at the University of Louisville School of Dentistry. During her time at U of L, Dr. Allan received extensive training in pediatric conscious oral sedation, treatment of children with special needs, behavior management, and hospital dentistry. While in residency, she was an active participant in the admissions process and helped conduct interviews, review applications, and rank candidates. This experience allowed Dr. Allan to gain an insider perspective and understanding of the admissions process. Always striving to stay on top of new innovations, she recently achieved Solea Dental Laser certification. She is an active member of the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry, Texas Academy of Pediatric Dentistry, and the American Dental Association. Dr. Allan chose to pursue admissions counseling because she finds coaching students to be rewarding and fulfilling. Having gone through the process herself, she understands all too well the rigors of the dental school and residency application process. She remembers how lonely the journey often was and wants to make it less intimidating and daunting for others by setting them up for success. She has thoroughly enjoyed her life as a pediatric dentist thus far and wants to share this wonderful career with others by helping them gain acceptance into dental school. As an admissions consultant, Dr. Allan’s unique approach involves starting off by putting the applicant at ease as their frame of mind is tantamount to achieving their goals. She places a strong emphasis on getting to know her students and identifying their unique attributes. Dr. Allan strives to help students determine why they want to pursue a career in dentistry and keep that motivation at the forefront of their mind throughout the process. She will help applicants stay organized and tackle the journey one step at a time. As a seasoned pediatric dentist, Dr. Allan can answer questions that relate to clinical practice and offer her personal experiences and anecdotes to help students grasp the day-to-day life of a dentist. She looks forward to meeting you and helping you gain acceptance.
