About Montgomery
I recently completed my MBA at the University of Chicago Booth School of Business and will be joining Bain & Company in San Francisco. Before business school, I worked as an FBI Special Agent and as a consultant at Accenture. During my time at Booth, I coached classmates and prospective consultants through case interviews, behavioral preparation, and the broader consulting recruiting process. I offer personalized coaching in three areas: Case Interview Preparation: Live, interview-style case practice focused on structuring, quantitative analysis, brainstorming, synthesis, and clear communication. I provide direct, actionable feedback and help candidates develop repeatable problem-solving habits rather than rely on memorized frameworks. Recruiting Strategy: Support with firm selection, networking, application positioning, interview preparation, and building a practical recruiting plan. I also help candidates translate unconventional professional experiences into compelling narratives for consulting firms. Personal Experience and Behavioral Interview Preparation: Preparation for personal experience, fit, and behavioral interviews, including story selection, answer structure, follow-up questions, and delivery. I help candidates communicate their leadership, impact, motivations, and personal experiences clearly and authentically. I particularly enjoy working with veterans, candidates from nontraditional backgrounds, and professionals transitioning out of government service. Having navigated a similar transition myself, I understand the challenge of translating public-sector experience into language that resonates with consulting firms. My coaching focuses on helping candidates understand how strong interviewees think—not simply memorize frameworks. Each session is tailored to the candidate’s target firms, recruiting timeline, and development areas. Whether you are learning to case for the first time or preparing for final-round interviews, my goal is to help you approach recruiting strategically, communicate your experience confidently, and perform with greater structure and effectiveness under pressure.
Why do I coach?
I coach because I want to help people who are navigating the same uncertainty I once faced. I would not have made the transition into business school or Bain without experienced mentors who helped me tell my story, understand the recruiting process, and prepare effectively for interviews. Growing up in a small community, I had little exposure to consulting or traditional business careers. Later, I became the only person in my FBI cohort to transition into consulting. When I began recruiting, I was unfamiliar with the process and did not initially know how to translate my government experience into a compelling business narrative. I owe much of my success to the people who took the time to guide me, and coaching is my way of paying that support forward. I also genuinely enjoy case interviews. Regardless of whether someone ultimately chooses consulting, case preparation is a valuable way to learn how to break down ambiguous business problems, communicate recommendations clearly, and become a more structured and confident thinker. Finally, I enjoy meeting interesting people and learning about their experiences and ambitions. During business school, I coached approximately 20 candidates and found it deeply rewarding to watch them improve and succeed. Coaching allows me to continue building those relationships while helping others pursue opportunities that may initially feel unfamiliar or out of reach.
