About Monica
I’m a Stanford Law School graduate and former founder advisor who has spent my career at the intersection of high achievement, storytelling, and strategy. As a former Princeton Review LSAT tutor, I've helped numerous high-achievers get into their dream school. Throughout this process, I became deeply interested in a question that most applicants underestimate: Why do some candidates with similar stats feel inevitable on paper—while others disappear into the pile? The answer is almost never just numbers. It’s clarity of story, coherence of purpose, and credibility of vision. I’ve worked with high-achieving students from a wide range of backgrounds—traditional, non-traditional, STEM, humanities, career switchers—helping them articulate who they are, why law makes sense for them, and what kind of lawyer they are becoming in a way that admissions committees feel invested in you, your story and your legal vision. How I Coach: I don’t believe in formulaic personal statements or “plug-and-play” narratives. Instead, my coaching focuses on helping you: -Identify the core story that makes your path make sense -Translate your experiences into clear signals of judgment, maturity, and direction -Build a credible future vision that admissions committees trust -Ensure your personal statement, resume, and overall application tell the same story Sound like yourself—but sharper, more intentional, and with the confidence an impact-driven legal changemaker that admissions committees are eager to have. My background as a communication and storytelling coach means I’m especially strong at: -Deep narrative excavation (what actually matters in your story) -Structuring essays for emotional and intellectual impact -Helping applicants who feel “interesting but scattered” find coherence -Helping applicants who feel “accomplished but generic” stand out What I Help With I work most often with applicants who want depth and precision, not just proofreading.I can help you with: -Personal statements (from blank page to final polish) -Optional essays and addenda -Resume strategy and narrative framing -Clarifying your “why law” and long-term vision -Connecting past experiences to future goals in a believable way -Strategy for top schools (including Stanford, Harvard, Yale-adjacent thinking) -Time management and mindset strategies for LSAT prep -Applications for applicants with non-linear or unconventional paths Whether you are a prospective law student or are in a transitional phase of life and wanting clarity, direction, I'm here to help.
Why do I coach?
I coach because I’ve seen—firsthand—how powerful a well-told, honest story can be. Before law school, I did a deep and sometimes uncomfortable dive to write a personal statement that was actually true to me. I tried to articulate not just what I had done, but what I cared about, how I thought, and where I felt pulled—even when I didn’t yet have language for it. Nearly a decade later, I found myself rereading that personal statement during a moment of re-orientation. What struck me wasn’t where I’d ended up, but how clearly my north star had already been there. The values, curiosities, and commitments embedded in that essay were the same ones that eventually led me from helping founders build their dreams through corporate law to wanting to support changemakers, conscious builders, and people drawn to impact-driven work. That experience reshaped how I think about applications. A personal statement isn’t just a ticket into law school. Done well, it’s a moment of self-definition. It can clarify why this path makes sense for you, and how the legal profession—one of the most diverse and powerful tools for social impact—can be a vehicle for defending vulnerable populations, shaping policy, and creating meaningful change. I coach because I want to help you get there with clarity and integrity. My Perspective As someone who has: Gone through a top law school Worked closely with founders and high-stakes decision-makers Studied communication, persuasion, and narrative deeply …I understand both sides of the table. I know what it feels like to be an applicant trying to “get it right.” And I know how readers actually interpret essays, resumes, and signals. My goal is not to turn you into a version of someone else. It’s to help you present the strongest, most honest version of you—with coherence, confidence, and a vision admissions committees can trust.
