As a finalist for the Rhodes Scholarship in 2017 (one of 12 selected from the states of Vermont, Maine, and Massachusetts), I know how stressful and opaque the application process can be. When I got to the interview, it was clear to me that the 6 Harvard students who had been selected had all received substantial preparation support from Harvard and from their own personal network (including strategies for the notorious Cocktail Reception!) that other students like me were not afforded.
