About Liz
I'm a prime example of how having a law degree does not mean that you can *only* practice law. I'm a born and bred Texan and Houstonian who went to Texas A&M University, graduating with my Bachelor of Arts in Political Science. I came back to Houston to attend law school at the University of Houston Law Center, graduating in 2004, and I practiced municipal/contracts law as an assistant city attorney for about one year before I decided that it just wasn't for me (hey, I tried). I ended up boomeranging back to UHLC and started down the path into higher education as a career counselor, where I stayed for almost three years. After a bit of a career pause to raise my daughter and a few other gigs, I decided I wanted to try my hand at law admissions at UHLC, where I stayed for eight years as both an assistant and associate admissions director. I left in 2021 after the pandemic to spend more time with my teenager at home, and began a different career path as a freelance copy editor, copywriter, and SEO/content creator. In 2025, I finally decided to take the leap and start my own law school admissions consulting business, something I've been wanting to do for at least five years. When Leland reached out to me to see about becoming a coach for them, it seemed like a no-brainer and a perfect addition to my business, and here I am!
Why do I coach?
As a former law school admissions director at a major public research university in one of the most diverse cities in the United States (yes, Houston is at least as, if not more, diverse than New York City), I worked with applicants and read files from all walks of life—those who were first generation high school and college students, minorities and POC, those who had never met a lawyer before, those who grew up in tough situations, LGBTQIA+ students, students dealing with religious or family trauma...you name it, I probably saw it. The legal field has largely been a male-dominated occupation (nothing against you, men!), and I am committed to helping applicants of all genders, races, sexualities, nationalities, religions, ethnicities, and backgrounds get into law school so that they can make the world a better place. However, I won't B.S. you because I don't believe in sugarcoating—applicants need to have their goals in place but also be realistic about where they're heading. I am passionate about helping to make the admissions process easier for everyone, but I have a soft spot for those who are from underrepresented groups in the legal profession and applicants who aren't just interested in getting into the T-14 or T-30 schools. I will work with just about anyone, no matter your background, and no matter what type of school you're interested in, but I encourage all applicants to look outside of just the USNWR rankings to find a place where you will truly fit in. The admissions process can feel convoluted, overwhelming, and intimidating. Let me help clear your path and unravel the complexities to make your experience as painless as possible!
Work Experience

Founder and Law Admissions Consultant
Clear Path Admissions Consulting
April 2025 - Present
With almost a decade of experience in the law school admissions field, I decided to go out on my own and start Clear Path Admissions Consulting as a way to reach those who are looking for a down-to-earth, individual-focused admissions company. I specialize in those who are looking to find their perfect fit in a law school, not just those interested in the top-tier law schools—there's over 200 law schools in the U.S.! I found that there is a gap in admissions assistance for those who are from and in underrepresented communities—minorities, lower-income and under-resourced people, people of color, etc.—and I remember thinking years ago that I would love to start an admissions consulting business that has a focus on those applicants, so I also specialize in people from groups that are underrepresented in the legal field. However, my expertise extends to anyone wanting to apply to law school.
