With years of experience supporting graduate students across top institutions, I specialize in guiding applicants through the Master’s and PhD admissions process with strategy, insight, and heart. I’ve worked inside some of the nation’s most selective programs, including the Biophysical Sciences Ph.D. Program at the University of Chicago, the Biosciences Ph.D. Program at Stanford School of Medicine, and the M.S. in Marketing and M.S. in Finance programs at USC Marshall School of Business. This insider perspective allows me to understand exactly how highly competitive programs evaluate applicants. Over the years, I’ve helped close friends and acquaintances navigate complex admissions processes, craft compelling personal statements, and present a cohesive, authentic narrative. My coaching combines strategic positioning with hands-on support from brainstorming and editing essays to interview preparation to maximize your chances of admission and funding. Whether you’re applying to master's programs or PhD programs, I’m passionate about equipping you with the strategy, tools, and confidence to stand out and succeed in giving you the best chance to get admitted into your dream programs.
Why do I coach?
As the son of Vietnamese war refugees and as a first-generation student, I had trouble navigating the higher education and undergraduate and graduate school admissions process when I initially applied to undergraduate and graduate school programs, but benefited from friends and mentors who had been through the process before. This guidance helped me transfer from community college to UCLA, the number 1 public school in the country. Additionally, I was able to obtain my master's in postsecondary administration and student affairs from USC and had the privilege of working for two Ivy plus schools at the Stanford School of Medicine, UChicago School of Medicine, as well as an elite business school at the USC Marshall School of Business. Despite my humble beginnings as the son of war refugees and starting off my academic journey at a community college, I was able to succeed through work ethic and pivotal mentorship. I would love to coach other like-minded and ambitious individuals who aspire to go to graduate school and help them obtain social mobility, increased wealth prospects, and increased career outcomes as a result of their graduate education.
