About Josh
Some quick facts about me: >I grew up on a cattle ranch in the middle of nowhere (shout out to Kingman Arizona, the metro area with the lowest percentage of college grads in the country!) >Did not go to my dream college because I didn't have a coach or any clue of how college admissions worked :( >During college worked at a few different start-ups and as a tutor/college advisor for at-risk high school students (best job ever) >Somehow tricked Bain & Company to give me an internship offer, worked there off and on for 9 years with some breaks for externships and Business school. >Been actively involved in education and career advancement efforts for dis-advantaged populations >Recently made the career change from consulting to marketing >Married with 2 kids
Why do I coach?
Two transformative experiences have led me to value coaching and want to be a coach: 1. I grew up with a speech impediment until I finally had a good speech therapist in middle school. The impediment is mostly gone, but the shyness and anxiety when communicating has never really gone away. It has taken a lot of coaching and feedback to mitigate those professional deficiencies, but it has been life changing! 2. Before my last year of high school I moved from a poor rural community to a relatively wealthy magnet school in another state. I witnessed the power (and frankly the inequality) of networks, connections and having people that can guide you to success. So I love helping people achieve their goals and dreams like I was helped. I would especially love to help those that feel like they are being held back by either their lack of social confidence or their lack of connections/background. Plus it's super fun to get to know more of the smart ambitious people on this platform!
