About Jin
Hi everyone! I am Jin. I grew up in China and came to the U.S. when I was 15 as an exchange student. I later graduated from Hamilton College, where I studied Math and Economics. Since then, my career has taken a few different turns -- I started in investment banking at Citi, then moved into tech at ByteDance, later spent time in private equity at IDG Capital, and now I’m the Chief of Staff at AveraLabs, a YC-backed startup building AI voice agents. Each step gave me a different lens, but over time I realized I’m most energized by frontier technology and by the process of building something from the ground up, whether that’s a product or the processes that help a team grow. Outside of work, I love skiing and snowboarding, tennis, figure skating, and ballet.
Why do I coach?
I coach because I know what it’s like to have a path with a few detours, where things don’t always make sense while you’re in the middle of them. A lot of my own clarity only came later, in hindsight. I was also really fortunate to have people help me along the way, and I honestly don’t think I would have gotten to where I am without that support. That’s a big reason I care about coaching. I’d love to pay that forward and be that kind of person for someone else, especially for people who may have a less traditional path and just need help connecting the dots in a way that feels true to them.
