Jamie’s Leadership Coaching Qualifications

Experience level: Executive

I bring more than 13 years of experience leading, developing, and mentoring professionals across nonprofit organizations, government, healthcare, behavioral health, and criminal justice. As a senior executive, I led multi-state operations encompassing 16 programs, more than 350 employees, and approximately $20 million in responsibility. I later served as Chief Operating Officer for two nonprofit organizations, where I developed leaders, aligned teams around strategic priorities, strengthened organizational culture and accountability, and guided employees through growth and change. Today, as a Colorado state legislator, I lead in a complex environment where progress depends on building coalitions, communicating across differences, exercising sound judgment, and influencing people over whom I have no direct authority. This experience has strengthened my ability to help leaders navigate competing priorities, build trust, and move people toward shared objectives. Drawing on this experience and my master’s degree in Organizational Leadership and Human Resource Management, I help emerging and established leaders assess where they are, clarify the leader they want to become, and develop practical strategies for getting there. My coaching focuses on strengthening communication and decision-making, navigating difficult conversations, recruiting and retaining talent, motivating teams, establishing accountability, and translating organizational strategy into coordinated action.

About Jamie

Leadership is most challenging when the mission matters, resources are constrained, stakeholders have competing priorities, and people are looking to you to provide a clear path forward. I help executives and emerging leaders translate strategy into effective execution by aligning people, priorities, and organizational systems. My work is grounded in a central belief: a strategic plan only creates value when leaders can mobilize their workforce, establish accountability, and turn complex goals into coordinated action. I bring more than 13 years of leadership experience across nonprofit organizations, government, healthcare, behavioral health, and criminal justice. As a former nonprofit Chief Operating Officer, I directed enterprise functions spanning finance, human resources, technology, communications, development, compliance, and administration. Earlier in my career, I led approximately $20 million in multi-state operations encompassing 16 programs and more than 350 employees. Today, I serve as a Colorado state legislator representing approximately 90,000 constituents in one of the state’s most diverse communities. My work requires me to build coalitions among people with competing interests, communicate complex ideas clearly, make consequential decisions under public scrutiny, and move policy from concept toward implementation. That combination of executive, operational, and public leadership shapes how I coach. I do not offer generic leadership advice. I help clients identify the real obstacle, examine it honestly, develop a practical strategy, and determine how to engage their people to carry it forward. I am especially equipped to help leaders: • Translate strategic priorities into focused action • Align and develop teams around a shared direction • Navigate organizational growth, change, and uncertainty • Strengthen executive judgment, presence, and communication • Manage complex relationships with boards, CEOs, funders, agencies, and community stakeholders • Build greater accountability across people, processes, and performance • Prepare for an executive role or expanded leadership responsibility My coaching style is candid, strategic, supportive, and action-oriented. Clients leave our work with greater clarity, stronger leadership tools, and concrete next steps they can apply immediately. If you are carrying a complex leadership challenge, or know that your organization needs more than another plan, I can help you connect strategy, people, and execution to move the work forward.

Why do I coach?

I coach because I believe leadership determines whether an organization’s mission becomes reality. Throughout my career, I have seen the difference an effective leader can make, not only in organizational outcomes, but also in the confidence, growth, and commitment of the people they lead. I genuinely enjoy helping leaders assess where they are, clarify where they want to go, and develop practical strategies to close the gap. Some leaders need help navigating a difficult decision or transition. Others need to strengthen their leadership approach, translate a strategic vision into action, or build a team capable of carrying the mission forward. I find it deeply rewarding to help leaders move from feeling uncertain or overwhelmed to having clarity, confidence, and a focused course of action. I also believe leaders establish the rules of engagement for their organizations. They set expectations, shape culture, lead by example, and determine whether accountability and integrity are simply stated values or principles that guide everyday decisions. Coaching allows me to help leaders strengthen their effectiveness, develop and motivate their teams, and translate strategy into effective execution. When leaders grow, their impact extends far beyond them; it strengthens the workforce, improves the organization, and advances the mission and communities they serve.
