As an immigrant to the US educated entirely in the public education system, I independently navigated the application and admissions processes for American undergraduate programs (without any coaching!) I applied to twenty universities (Public & Private) and succeeded in being admitted nearly everywhere I applied, including several Ivy League colleges like Brown, Dartmouth, Yale, as well as Stanford. While I was applying to colleges, I was also applying to many scholarships offered by universities and external scholarships, before ultimately deciding to attend Vanderbilt University, where I received a full merit scholarship. During my time at Vanderbilt, I applied to and received various additional scholarships to fund study abroad and international work experiences, including a FLAS fellowship and the Fulbright program (which I declined due to an offer to join the UN).
