Emergency Medicine Student Fellow

As a student fellow at UCSF, I worked closely with faculty mentors on clinical and scholarly initiatives aimed at advancing health equity and patient care. My role included supporting research activities, participating in teaching sessions, and engaging with interdisciplinary teams to better understand how academic medicine drives innovation. This experience strengthened my clinical acumen, deepened my interest in academic medicine, and provided valuable exposure to UCSF’s commitment to serving diverse and underserved communities.

Phlebotomy Technician

Over two years of experience in venipuncture and associated protocols. Responsibilities include: -Properly identifying the patient -Interpreting the tests requested on Provider-ordered requisitions -Ensuring that biological specimens are drawn into the correct tubes with the proper additives -Accurately explaining the venipuncture procedure to the patient -Principal focus on the required forms of asepsis and practicing universal precautions -Properly restoring hemostasis of the puncture site, instructing patients on post-puncture care

Diabetes Health Coach

At Wonderful Wellness, we worked to combat the high prevalence of chronic diseases affecting our company’s employee population. I managed a panel of 103 patients diagnosed with Type I and Type II Diabetes Mellitus. As a Health Coach, I utilized individualized goal setting and Motivational Interviewing techniques to help patients understand the multiple dimensions of health and to provide disease self-management support. My primary responsibility was to coordinate the complex care of these patients across medical specialty lines (including Nutrition, Behavioral Health, and Physical Therapy) while also performing phlebotomy and pharmacy dispensing.

Vaccine Hesitancy Researcher

I piloted and published an observational study that assessed vaccine hesitancy and trust in physicians among Hispanic and Latinx parents whose children received primary care services at one of the largest Federally Qualified Health Centers in the United States.
