About Emmanuel Ifeanyi
I’m Emmanuel “ifeanyi” ifediba, a First-year mba candidate at UC Berkeley Haas school of business, class of 2027. I’ve recently gone through the mba application process this past year. I As a non-traditional candidate, I was First generation Nigerian-American; no consulting/ content creation experience on my resume. Instead, i have a creator audience of 300m+, 93k+ followers; ca real estate license; brand deal track record with companies such as Perplexity AI, Verizon & Netflix. In terms of paperwork – that combination does not fit the standard mba profile. Therefore, I had to learn how to translate it into a story of why haas would say yes to me. If you are an mba applicant who feels like your story is different or you are the first generation american figuring out rules nobody told your family, this is where most generic admissions advice stops being useful and a coach who has just done it starts to matter. What I bring to your application: - Berkeley haas class of 2027 perspective with intel current for this admissions cycle. - Essay strategy for non-traditional candidates (creator, family business, immigrant operator, public-sector pivot). - Interview prep based off of what haas asked me and the answers that landed my interviews. - First-generation framing without making your story sound like a sob story. - honest school selection conversations including schools i considered applying to and why i chose haas. If you want a coach who is one step ahead of you in the same maze, I am your guy
Why do I coach?
I mentor prospective MBAs because I believe the MBA application process is far too ambiguous. And those individuals without a roadmap for navigating this process are usually impacted by these ambiguities the greatest. When I applied to business school, I almost made all the wrong decisions. My first draft of my Haas Application Essay sounded like a LinkedIn post. I selected my recommenders based upon incorrect assumptions rather than the criteria they would be able to evaluate. And when I attended my first mock interview, I treated it as if I were participating in an informal podcast discussion versus a formal conversation with representatives from Admissions. The reason I improved was due to the fact that experienced professionals (mentors) provided support to assist me with my applications. A second year Haas Student took 45 minutes to review my essays and assisted me in saving myself 3 months of confusion. A consultant who provided her services pro-bono since she believed in my story indicated exactly which paragraphs to remove. Finally, a first generation college graduate from my undergraduate institution (and also a close friend) reminded me of my strengths in terms of my background the evening prior to submitting my application. Mentoring is how I repay that debt. Each time a First Generation MBA Applicant sends me a genuine inquiry via Direct Message (DM), I respond each time. Since joining Leland, I will be able to provide mentoring to prospective students at higher frequency and at greater levels of quality; while providing the highest level of assistance to those students who require the most support throughout a process designed primarily for others.
