About Elena

I’m Elena Demaria, a Public Translator graduated from the University of Buenos Aires and an English Teaching graduate from Cultura Inglesa de Buenos Aires. I specialize in preparing professionals across Latin America for international exams such as the GMAT, GRE, Executive Assessment, and TOEFL. My approach combines academic rigor, exam strategy, and personalized coaching. I primarily work in a one-to-one format, designing each program around the student’s starting point, target score, and timeline. I believe in smart preparation: success is not about studying more hours, but about studying strategically — understanding patterns, mastering decision-making, and building structured thinking. My goal is not only to help students improve their scores, but to equip them with the clarity and confidence they need to succeed in demanding academic environments.

Why do I coach?

I coach because I believe talent should not be limited by geography or lack of guidance. Many highly capable professionals in Latin America aspire to pursue international graduate programs, yet standardized tests often become an intimidating barrier. Over the years, I’ve seen how the right structure, feedback, and strategy can completely transform a student’s performance. What initially feels overwhelming becomes manageable — and even empowering — when there is a clear plan. Coaching allows me to combine my background in language, logic, and pedagogy to help students think more critically, perform under pressure, and move closer to their academic and professional goals. Seeing students gain confidence in their abilities and achieve results they once thought were out of reach is what makes this work deeply meaningful to me.

Interviewer

At Merchant GMAT & Admissions, I served as the lead Verbal coach, specializing in GMAT Verbal preparation for candidates applying to competitive international MBA and master’s programs. In this role, I designed and delivered structured one-on-one coaching programs focused on Critical Reasoning, Reading Comprehension, and Sentence Correction. My work went beyond content review: I trained students to develop analytical precision, logical reasoning skills, and effective time management strategies under exam conditions. I collaborated closely with the Quant coach to ensure students received an integrated preparation experience aligned with their target scores and application timelines. My approach emphasized strategic thinking, pattern recognition, and decision-making clarity — helping professionals not only improve their performance, but also build the confidence required for high-stakes testing. Through personalized study plans, detailed performance analysis, and ongoing feedback, I supported candidates in achieving competitive Verbal scores and strengthening the academic communication skills necessary for top-tier business programs.

Bachelor's Degree, Education

2013 - 2018

The English Teaching degree at Cultura Inglesa de Buenos Aires (CIBADIST) is a rigorous teacher-training program designed to prepare educators to teach English as a foreign language at high academic standards. The program combines advanced language proficiency development with in-depth pedagogical training. The curriculum includes English linguistics, phonetics and phonology, grammar analysis, literature, and cultural studies, alongside courses in teaching methodology, curriculum design, assessment, and classroom management. A strong emphasis is placed on lesson planning, learner-centered instruction, and the development of effective communication strategies. Students complete supervised teaching practice, where they apply theoretical knowledge in real classroom settings and receive structured feedback from experienced educators. This practical component ensures that graduates are well-prepared to design engaging lessons, assess student progress, and adapt instruction to different learning styles and proficiency levels. Graduates of the program develop not only advanced command of English, but also the analytical and pedagogical skills necessary to support learners in academic and professional contexts.
