David’s USMLE Qualifications
Scored a 265 on the USMLE
I scored 265 on Step 2 CK and I've coached students through standardized exams for over a decade, including students who started below average and finished above the 90th percentile on the MCAT, SAT, and ACT. The same principles apply to Step prep: most students don't have a content problem, they have a strategy problem. My background in engineering and consulting means I approach Step prep systematically. I'll help you build a study plan that's actually efficient, identify your highest-yield weak areas quickly, and develop the test-taking strategy that moves your score — not just passive content review. Whether you're building a dedicated study schedule from scratch or trying to break through a plateau close to test day, I'll tell you exactly where your time is best spent.

About David
I'm an OB/GYN resident at UPMC with a background in mechanical engineering from Northwestern and health tech consulting at Deloitte. I've spent 10+ years coaching and tutoring students through college applications, medical school applications, and standardized exams — with admits to Ivy League and top medical programs, and students who've gone from below-average scores to above the 90th percentile on the MCAT, SAT, and ACT. My approach is direct and structured. I think in frameworks, cut to the real problem fast, and give precise feedback instead of vague encouragement. I work best with students who have strong potential but need help figuring out how to position themselves and tell their story — especially those coming from non-traditional backgrounds.
Why do I coach?
The mentors who gave me honest, direct feedback at key moments in my own path made a real difference — and most students don't have access to that. I coach because I'm good at seeing what's actually holding an application back, and because turning a complicated background into a compelling narrative is exactly the kind of problem I find interesting.
