About Chan
"I thought I'd never get in. Then I did, with full funding. What the heck happened." That's what I told myself at Stanford orientation. Everyone around me seemed so... qualified. Perfect English. Consulting, finance. Silicon Valley background, etc. etc. Me? Non-native English speaker. Government job. Never lived in the U.S. Yet somehow: dual Stanford admit, Knight-Hennessy Scholar, Fulbright recipient, Harvard admit. Here's what I learned along the way: The people who get rejected, often seem to have perfect profiles and rely on those to give them the best chances. The ones who get in, usually are convinced deep inside that they won't get in, but take courage to show their 100% true self. That impostor syndrome you're feeling? That voice saying "not good enough"? It might actually be a sign that you have exactly what the schools are looking for. It's just darn hard to see it for yourself, when you're by yourself. I work with people like us: - The one who has a story to tell but are worried the story might not matter to others - The one who rewrites emails 10 times (worried about grammar) - The model student comparing themselves to everyone else - The person who almost didn't apply What I do: - I walk with you through your life's stories to identify the hidden gems, polish them together, and present them in a compelling narrative arc. - I help you see what admissions committees will actually love about you. The stuff you've been apologizing for. Hiding. Making smaller. - Most clients tell me: "I never knew that was actually a strength" or "I didn't think that story mattered." What you'll get: - Undivided attention: I work with only one client at a time, for up to 2 months at a time, and no longer than that. - Reliable guide: From strategic time management to mindset-setting, I'll walk with you till the finish line. - Real-time support: During the last-mile crunch time (~2 weeks), I provide real-time support so that you're never left hanging. - One session of coaching typically includes a post-session written feedback and editing My best clients all started with "I know this is close to impossible, but..." They were all wrong. Maybe you are too? Let's find out together.
Why do I coach?
The day I learned to see myself differently, everything changed. During my graduate applications, something shifted. Not my resume. Not my scores. Just how I saw my own story. Suddenly, what felt like weaknesses became my edge. What seemed ordinary revealed itself as extraordinary. That shift from apologizing for who I was to owning it, opened doors I thought were permanently closed. But here's what matters more: Sometimes we need borrowed eyes to see our own light. Someone who holds up a mirror and shows us what was always there. I coach because I want to be that mirror for you. Not to change you. Not to fix you. Just to help you see what's already extraordinary about your story. The parts you've been too close to notice. Every person deserves that moment of recognition. That shift in perspective that changes everything. Let me lend you my eyes until you trust your own.
