During these sessions, we will work toward creating an application that is specifically catered toward Harvard Medical School. As a successful Harvard Med applicant and recipient of the REACH Dean's Scholarship (90% funding), I have a comprehensive grasp of what the Harvard admissions committee is looking for in an application. The package includes the following: 1) Initial Consultation (~1 hour): an in-depth look at your application package, including your GPA, MCAT, extracurricular activities, research/clinical experiences, and career goals. We will identify strengths, weaknesses, and strategies for crafting your optimal application. 2) Personal Statement (2 x 1 hour): we will review and early draft of your personal statement that intends to highlights your passion for medicine and demonstrates your potential as a physician. I will provide detailed feedback on 2-3 drafts to ensure your personal statement is impactful and engaging. 3) Tailoring for HMS (2 x 1 hour): in this session, we will discuss the HMS mission statement and talk about what Harvard looks for when creating their first-year class based on my own experiences as a rising second-year student. We will discuss the Harvard secondary essays and brainstorm what sorts of topics would be effective to discuss in these essays. We will also review strategies to creating an overall narrative with your secondaries that aligns with your personal statement and activities descriptions. I will provide detailed feedback on 2-3 drafts to ensure that your secondary essays are as impactful as possible. 4) Preparing for the HMS Interview (1 hour): during this session, we will review the structure of the HMS interview along with likely questions that may come up. We will discuss strategies for answering questions.

Hello everyone! My name is Carlos and I am a first-year student at Harvard Medical School. I graduated from the College of William & Mary in 2023 with a B.S. Social Justice in Medicine. At William & Mary, I attending on a full-ride through the 1693 Scholarship. I also received a number of academic honors, including the Albert & Phyllis Pre-medical Award, Hulon Willis Memorial Scholarship, and the Lord Botetourt Medal (given to the most distinguished undergraduate in the class). I applied to 20 U.S. medical school and was offered interviews at 16. I ended up attending 12 interviews, and was accepted at 8 of the schools and waitlisted at the other 4. At Harvard, I am a part of the Dean's REACH Scholarship program where I receive almost full finding for my 4 years. I have some interest in pursuing cardiology or dermatology, but am still exploring my options as a first-year. I am happy to help others achieve their medical school goals by reviewing essays, providing application/interview advice, and providing MCAT advice!
