About Bobby

Hi, I’m Bobby — a PhD-trained career coach, counselor educator, and Associate Director of Career Coaching for the Full-Time MBA program at UC San Diego’s Rady School of Management. I help MBA students, graduate students, and professionals turn career uncertainty into a clear, strategic plan. My coaching focuses on career pivots, job search strategy, resume and LinkedIn positioning, networking, interview preparation, and building a compelling professional narrative. I especially enjoy working with people who have interdisciplinary backgrounds, feel pulled in multiple directions, or are trying to translate their experience into a new industry or function. In my current role, I coach MBA candidates across industries including consulting, life sciences, technology, finance, healthcare, operations, sustainability, and social impact. I have supported students through every stage of the career process — from early exploration and target company development to offer negotiation and decision-making. My work blends practical career strategy with a counseling-informed coaching style, helping clients not only identify the right opportunities but also communicate their value with confidence. I also bring a unique background in AI and career development. My doctoral research focused on the use of AI in counselor training, and I regularly help students use AI tools thoughtfully for career exploration, resume tailoring, networking preparation, and interview practice without losing their authentic voice. My style is warm, strategic, and direct. I will help you clarify what you want, identify the gaps between where you are and where you want to go, and build an action plan you can actually follow. Whether you are preparing for business school, navigating an MBA job search, changing industries, or trying to make sense of your next professional move, I can help you create a clearer path forward.

Why do I coach?

I coach because I love helping people see possibilities for themselves that they may not be able to see yet. Career uncertainty can be stressful and deeply personal. It is rarely just about finding a job; instead, it is about understanding your strengths, telling your story, making confident decisions, and building a life that feels aligned with your values. I find a lot of meaning in helping people turn confusion into clarity and clarity into action. The best part of coaching is watching someone begin to trust their own direction again. When a client leaves a conversation feeling more confident, more focused, and more capable of taking the next step, that is what makes this work meaningful to me.
