Becky’s K-12 Tutoring Qualifications
Phi Beta Kappa graduate from Claremont McKenna College with a degree in Philosophy, Politics, and Economics (PPE), with strong experience in analytical writing, critical thinking, and academic research. I’ve worked in international development, politics, and sustainability/ESG, where clear communication and structured thinking are essential. My professional experience includes writing, editing, and presenting complex ideas for a variety of audiences. I also have hands-on mentoring experience, including training and supporting new associates in consulting roles. Combined with my own experience working with writing coaches in college, I understand both how to improve writing and how to teach it effectively. I’m well-equipped to help with academic writing, essays, and college preparation, as well as building the core skills - argumentation, structure, and clarity -that lead to long-term success.

About Becky
I graduated Phi Beta Kappa from Claremont McKenna College with a degree in Philosophy, Politics, and Economics (PPE). My academic background reflects a strong foundation in critical thinking, writing, and interdisciplinary analysis. Professionally, I’ve worked across international development and politics, and I currently focus on sustainability and ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance). These experiences have strengthened my ability to break down complex topics, communicate clearly, and support students in developing both subject mastery and confidence. I’m excited to work with students on a range of needs, from academic tutoring in writing, humanities, and social sciences to college preparation, including essays and application guidance. I aim to create a supportive, thoughtful learning environment tailored to each student’s goals.
Why do I coach?
Coaching matters to me because I’ve seen how much of a difference it can make, both as a student and on the other side. When I got to college, I worked with writing coaches to help me adjust from high school to a much more rigorous academic environment. That experience really shaped how I think about learning—having someone give clear, thoughtful feedback made things click much faster and helped me build confidence. Later on, in my consulting roles, I led trainings for new associates and got to mentor people who were going through a similar kind of transition into something new and challenging. I saw how valuable it is to have someone in your corner who can break things down and make the process less overwhelming. That’s what I try to bring to tutoring: practical support, honest feedback, and helping people feel more confident in their own abilities.
