About Austin
Hi, I’m Austin — thanks for checking out my coaching profile! I’m a former McKinsey Engagement Manager and interviewer, now a Managing Director at FedEx, where I lead a high-performing team of 30 top professionals. I left McKinsey in May 2025, so my perspective on the consulting recruiting process is as current and sharp as it gets. I’ve interviewed countless candidates and know exactly what makes someone stand out—and what common pitfalls can derail even strong applicants. My path to coaching started with navigating tough transitions myself. Before consulting, I served as a U.S. Army helicopter pilot and graduated from West Point, where I was the Cadet First Captain—the highest-ranking cadet in a corps of 4,400. After leaving the military, I applied to business school during Round 3 and was fortunate to be accepted at all seven schools I applied to, including Stanford GSB, Wharton, Booth, Kellogg, Yale SOM, Haas, and Columbia. I ultimately earned my MBA from Stanford and joined McKinsey as a Summer Associate before returning full-time. I’ve lived the uncertainty of big career pivots—from military to MBA to consulting to executive leadership—and I wouldn’t have made it without exceptional guidance along the way. That’s why I now coach others. I specialize in helping candidates break into top-tier consulting firms like McKinsey, BCG, and Bain by offering: ✅ Insider case & behavioral interview prep ✅ Practice cases ✅ Resume review ✅ Career transition strategy ✅ Leadership development & personal coaching I'm also an EMT, a dad, and a pilot who loves flying friends over the California coast. Coaching with me is structured, supportive, and honest—I’ll be your wingman every step of the way and make sure you’re ready for the mission ahead. Let’s get started.
Why do I coach?
I coach because I wouldn’t be where I am today without the people who guided me. From applying to MBA programs as a transitioning Army officer to navigating the high-stakes consulting recruiting process, I benefited immensely from mentors who generously shared their time, experience, and belief in me. Coaching is my way of paying it forward. I know how overwhelming it can feel to break into a place like McKinsey—or any top-tier firm—especially if you don’t come from a traditional background. I’ve seen firsthand how the right preparation, mindset, and strategy can transform a candidate’s trajectory. Helping others succeed isn’t just fulfilling—it’s personal. I believe in coaching that is honest, structured, and supportive. Whether you’re chasing an MBB offer, navigating a big career pivot, or looking to grow as a leader, I’m here to help you rise to the challenge.
