About Ariel
I decided I wanted to apply to law school as an elementary student learning about the civil rights movement, before later considering being a jockey, politician, policy maker, therapist, and professional dog petter. Though I landed on law, it was a process to make sure that this space was right for my career goals and who I am as a person. It turned out that I was allergic to horses, didn't enjoy networking enough for politics, and had far too many opinions to be a good therapist. And while I am not a professional dog petter, my Staffordshire Terrier would certainly like me to be! While my exact goals have changed, my passion for public interest and supporting my clients has stayed true despite moving from Texas, to Vermont, to Chicago, and now to California. In the past few years I've had the opportunity to learn about the legal industry and my role in it because of my time in law school. I hope to help you do the same.
Why do I coach?
Working as a legal assistant in environmental nonprofits, I learned about what it was like to be in the legal world without any background, connections, or legal education. I progressed with the support of my peers, fellow legal assistants, and attorneys; and I was encouraged by our clients to take my shot. I learned about the process through my school's career office, but the practicalities and reputations of schools I learned from word of mouth, friends, and (unfortunately) Reddit. This made the process feel daunting and secretive, increasing my own anxieties as an applicant waiting for a response. Now, I want to pass on my knowledge to others. Although my path is public interest, my goal in our time together is to support your dream of becoming a lawyer, while assuaging some of the repeated anxieties of the law school application process.
