About Amanda
Hi, I’m Amanda! I'm a proud Bronx, NY native who’s spent the last eight years building a career in tech and venture capital in the San Francisco Bay Area. I began my career at Google, where I worked across finance, strategy, and operations—culminating in two years at Google.org, the company’s philanthropy and social impact arm. From there, I led business operations at the startup Clearbit, which was later acquired by Hubspot. After Clearbit, I built a broad and unique resume with internships at Peloton (ESG Strategy), Harlem Capital (VC), and Thrive Capital (Incubations) before and during pursuing my MBA at Stanford's Graduate School of Business. Since graduating, I've worked in venture capital as the Chief of Staff of a Palo Alto-based firm called Westbound Equity Partners.
Why do I coach?
As a Dominican and Puerto Rican woman raised in a low-income neighborhood in NYC, I know firsthand the power of access and opportunity. When I reflect on my journey, I can point to a few key people and organizations that completely changed the trajectory of my life simply by giving me a chance. The old adage goes, “It takes a village,” and for me, that couldn’t be more true. I’ve gotten to where I am in my career because of the generosity, guidance, and belief of those who recognized my potential. That's why I coach - to pay it forward for others. While at Stanford GSB, I served as a TALK Coach. TALK is a beloved tradition where classmates give 25-minute speeches about their life stories - who they are, what they believe, and the experiences that have shaped them. As a TALK Coach, I worked one-on-one with dozens of my classmates to help them connect the dots of their life journeys and deliver authentic, vulnerable TALKs for the community. It was the highlight of my GSB experience - going deep with so many of my peers and helping them tell their stories in powerful, personal ways. As a coach, I'm most passionate about helping you articulate your unique story. Your GMAT / GRE score and your GPA certainly matter, but *you* are your biggest asset. Together, we'll uncover and highlight your specific strengths, mitigate any potential weaknesses, and identify what matters most to you. From helping you craft personal, compelling essays to preparing you to show up authentically in your interviews, I'll be with you every step of the way. I’m excited to work with candidates from all backgrounds, and I believe I can be especially helpful to those with profiles similar to mine: - Woman of color admitted to four top MBA programs - Started in tech, pivoted to VC, and explored entrepreneurship at the GSB - MLT MBA Prep alum - 2.95 GPA (so I promise, it is possible to overcome a lower GPA) - Passionate about health and wellness (my GSB essay was all about democratizing access) The business school application process can be intense, but you don’t have to go through it alone. We'll work together to stay organized, proactive, and grounded. It's also very important to me that you take care of your health and even find moments of joy throughout the journey. Let's get it!
