I spent 12 years at Google, going through three burnouts to secure my position, reach financial independence, and retire at 38. Now, my life consists of teaching handstands and arm balancing (without having to worry about making money), drinking coffees with friends, and reading books with my two cats. About Alejandra
I have the typical story... Or do I? Emigrated from Venezuela to France to study engineering, had to work odd jobs to pay for my studies, got rejected the first time I applied to Google (but got in the second time!), spent 12 years in corporate often being the only woman in the room, climbed the corporate ladder until I became an engineering manager, had three burnouts over the span of 6 years, all the while saving and investing until I reached financial independence and retired at 38 to become a yoga teacher, leaving many jealous colleagues behind, slightly confused as to how I managed what I did. I now teach handstands and arm balancing for a "living" (or, more accurately, for a "passion"), and help other women reach their dream lives too. Here's where I tell you how to do the same.
Why do I coach?
For my first eight years in corporate, I didn't have a single woman in my hierarchy. Not one. I was also among 5% of women in Tech during my first years. As that percentage started increasing, I wanted to be the female role model, mentor and sponsor I so sorely lacked. I started helping women outside of my team advocate for themselves, get promotions, become more confident, prioritize their work-life balance. As I worked to become financially independent and retire early, I coached other women and taught them about personal finance, investment, and how to become financially independent themselves. After I retired at 38, I started accompanying other women into their own transitions from corporate into their dream jobs such as teaching yoga or becoming artists. I was (and still am!) passionate about helping women achieve the life they want, a life where they feel safe, fulfilled, and happy, however that path looks like for them. That's why I coach.

Research on Inventory Routing derived problems (minimal bounds, optimal solutions through column generation). One month modelling and understanding the problem theoretically, followed by four months of development in C++ (Qt, under Linux Debian) of a column generation algorithm icluding subproblems solved by dynamic programming. Multithreading with OpenMP. Research on hard combinatorial problem: schedule meals between clients and suppliers, with constraints.
