About Akin

I'm a BCG Partner with eight-plus years at the firm, advising Fortune 500 and private equity leadership teams through their highest-stakes strategic decisions. Before that, I earned a PhD in semiconductor materials from Oak Ridge National Laboratory, was valedictorian of my engineering class at the University of Lagos, the top result at the university in two decades, and co-founded a startup that built a materials-modeling algorithm. What makes me different as a coach: I was named BCG's L&D Coach of the Year for the depth of my coaching work with senior executives, peers, and teams. I bring the same rigor I use advising Fortune 500 boards to your career and leadership decisions, structured frameworks, real accountability, and honest pressure-testing, not just supportive conversation. I work best with high-achieving professionals facing a real inflection point: a career transition, a hard negotiation, a decision they keep circling without landing. If you're capable, a little stuck, and ready for both a coach and an advocate, I'd love to work with you.

Why do I coach?

Someone believed in me before I'd fully earned it, more than once, and it changed the entire shape of my career. Colleagues who vouched for me without being asked. Mentors who saw something in me before I saw it myself. My own mother, who led people her whole life, and whose leadership still opens doors for me today, years after she passed. I coach because I want to be that person for someone else, the one who sees your capability clearly, tells you the truth about what's actually in your way, and stays in your corner while you close the gap.
