About Adaeze
Hi there! My name is Adaeze (pronounced uh-DE-zay) I grew up in the Midwest but now call the East Coast home. I graduated from The Ohio State University with a degree in Economics. I started my career in public policy, working as a researcher & impact evaluator supporting policymakers at the local, state, and federal levels on a diverse set of issues from affordable housing to labor discrimination. On the side, I also advised startup founders on social impact and how research can inform their work. During this time, I started thinking about what I wanted to do next. For a long time, I thought I wanted to go back for a PhD (I was surrounded by so many brilliant Econ and Sociology PhDs at work!), however the more work I did with founders, I realized an MBA could be a great fit. I wasn't quite ready to let go of my policy background, so opted to apply for both MBA and Master's in Public Policy programs and decided to pursue a joint degree. Fast forward a few years, and here we are! I'm an MBA/MPP working in the climate startup ecosystem and loving every minute of it! I'm here for the "non-traditional" MBA and master's candidates and here to tell you there is not only room but a need for your perspective in the business school classroom! I love helping others find their stories and weave together amazing applications because we each have an important and compelling story to tell. The MBA process can be stressful and there seem to be countless articles, books, YouTube videos on how to get into a top program. As someone who consumed all that content (and some!) I'm here to be a calming force in all the chaos and help you wade through what's fact vs. hype.
Why do I coach?
I coach because I've been the beneficiary of so many wonderful coaches, mentors, teachers bosses and I think folks who take the time to invest in your future success help make the world go 'round. I had a wonderful coach during the MBA admissions process. I was a nervous wreck during the entire process. I'm not a strong standardized test taker, I wasn't ready to tell my supervisor, but between busy season at work, preparing for the GRE, and attending MBA events the pressure felt untenable. But I wanted this even more than I could fully verbalize. My coach was patient, but also no bullshit. She told me when my essay drafts made no sense and encouraged me to broaden the set of programs I was considering. I want to continue that work and pay it forward!
