I came from a nontarget background. I cold emailed over 400 people to get an IB internship, ultimately choosing RBC and ending up in the M&A group. At RBC I did a handful of digital infrastructure deals, and ultimately recruited for infra funds. Received a few offers across generalist PE and infra PE, and ultimately chose DigitalBridge given my sector interest and firm culture. I was able to do this and get an associate role after only 1 year as an analyst. I also received the senior associate promotion 2 years after starting at the firm. I’ve coached a number of people and helped them break into IB and PE. I’ve additionally coached people in their roles on how they can improve and better improve their ranking and chance at a promotion.
