Finding a job is a function of identifying what sits at the intersection of your skills, talents, and interests. If you're going to work for the rest of your life, why do something that you hate? There are systems you can use to figure it out much quicker than peers. I call it the Career Hypothesis method. If you truly act from a place of genuine curiosity and are moving in alignment with what you want, then I'm confident you can get any job you want.

About Nishal
Hey. I'm Nishal. I was born and raised in the suburbs of Austin, TX. I grew up surrounded by various forms of business ranging from seeing my parents grinding out their American Dream to watching business TV shows like Shark Tank, The Apprentice, etc. I played golf, basketball, and trumpet throughout my youth and high school. I knew from an early age I wanted to do business, so took my talents to UT Austin. I got involved in various finance and consulting organizations and found more interest in the banking path over consulting. I landed offers across BB and EB firms, and decided to accept an offer at Evercore. I summered there and went full time post undergrad. In college, I spent a summer in the Internal Strategy Consulting group at Southwest Airlines and another summer in Shanghai, China working in equity research. I developed a deep interest in new energies after reading a book called The New Map. I recognized one of the most under looked industry is metals and mining, which is the sector behind getting the raw materials needed to power the energy grid as well as everything else we use in society. At Evercore, I spent time as a generalist, working on tech, lithium, and some power deals. Following my interests in energy, I joined I Squared Capital, an Infrastructure PE fund. I started out in the buyout flagship fund, but quickly jumped to the new strategy they raised called InfraTech. Through this vehicle we invested in post product market fit tech startups modernizing legacy and infrastructure sectors. I learned a lot in my time at PE, but decided the environment wasn't for me. I quit with nothing lined up after receiving my bonus and set out to "figure it out" - I went through a lot of deep philosophical thoughts to find out what I really want. I determined I want to work in a role that truly fits my skills, talents, and interest. I took an unconventional route of meandering around, working on projects, upskilling myself, and building relationships. Through this process I received many offers organically, all without even applying or submitting a resume. I've found myself working directly alongside an emerging fund manager, helping him build out his platform. There's a difference between launching your career and just getting a job.
Why do I coach?
There is so much information on the internet that it's overwhelming. Everyone has something to say and most of the time the loudest voice is usually the most wrong. The useful information is gatekept, making recruiting ominous; however, once you understand how companies hire and how the game works - it becomes easy. I wouldn't be where I am today without coaches sharing information with me. I'm here to pay it forward. School teaches you a lot of things, but it does not teach your how the real world works.
