About Matt "Magic"
🤘Want to Achieve Your Next Career Goal or Find a Role That Fulfills You? ◆ We’ll Guide 🫵 There! | Senior Leaders ► Managers ► Directors ► Executives | $75K/$100K/$250K/$500K+ Jobs🗣️870 LinkedIn Recs🤘Jobstickers.com👈 Are you a job seeker who’s frustrated with how the job search is going or ready to kick one off? Are you feeling that you’re missing something that’s preventing you from getting that interview, getting that raise, getting that freedom? If this sounds like something you’re searching for, then let’s chat logical next steps. HOW I CAN HELP YOU? My mission is to provide a career transition that takes the guesswork out of updating your resume and brings out the positive aspects of change. • How would you like a resume that actually markets you? • Would you like to know all of the insider secrets of a former recruiter of how to have your resume get past the layers of technology whose main job is to screen resumes out? • Have someone there next to you every step of the way acting as your guide through the whole process? MY BACKSTORY: • I’m a former recruiter for Fortune 500 companies including Johnson Controls, Cummins, GM, Ford, PNC, PPG, Goodrich, Chrysler, Moen, ABB, and Timken. • Being a recruiter, I’ve seen all of the templated resumes that come out of the resume mills, making one candidate indistinguishable from another. • I knew innately what recruiters and hiring managers wanted. Unfortunately, the applicants didn’t and that created a disconnect. WHAT HAPPENED? After being laid off myself, I turned to what I was mostly doing when I was a recruiter at my old job with my unofficial duties, which were career consulting, interview training, and resume writing. In working together, we’ll: • Build your resume together. • Craft your customized cover letter. • Develop your LinkedIn presence. • Write your supporting letters – thank you notes, follow-ups, references, and more. • Strategize together on how to attack your job hunt so it’s as short as possible. WHAT OTHERS HAVE SAID: • “Your work led to my current position. A recruiter found me on LinkedIn. It was a jump in compensation and career.” • “Received a job offer at a pharma company! Thanks again.” • “I got the job. Thank you so much.” • "Using Matt's resume/letters, I received 3 job offers within a month after multiple interviews." • "The hiring manager liked my resume so much, she asked if I could give her Matt's contact info!" • "I worked with Matt and literally had a job within 2 weeks." I’ve earned 867+ LinkedIn recommendations. READY TO TALK? Why do I coach?
Coaching matters to me because I’ve seen firsthand how much someone’s career impacts every part of their life—confidence, finances, relationships, even mental health. Over the years, I’ve worked with clients at some of their lowest points—burned out, stuck, laid off, or questioning their value—and I don’t take that lightly. I joke that I’m a “part-time therapist,” but there’s truth in it. I’ve had people cry on calls, I’ve helped them regain belief in themselves, and I’ve guided them through moments where they felt completely lost. That responsibility is something I care deeply about. What drives me is the combination of empathy and action. I meet people where they are, speak in a relatable, human way, and make the process feel less overwhelming. But I also bring structure. My coaching isn’t just conversations—it’s a process. I give clients clear, step-by-step actions to take so they can start building momentum immediately. We’re planting seeds, turning over stones, and creating real opportunities—not just talking about them. At the end of the day, I care because I know what’s possible when someone has the right support. I’ve seen people completely change their trajectory with the right guidance, and being part of that transformation is what makes this work meaningful to me.
Work Experience

Resume Writer
MJW Careers
February 2009 - Present
Eliminating the guesswork of updating your resume for Early Career, Mid-Level, Senior-Level and Re-Entry Professionals, Executives, Military Members, and Career-Changers, I turn your resume into a visual marketing tool that guarantees your success. From combinational, chronological, and targeted resumes, to non-conventional, federal, and functional resumes, I've got all the relevant and trending formatting covered. I have a pulse on that pesky applicant tracking system (ATS), and how to optimize your keywords so your resume is read by human eyeballs, not just the artificial intelligence (AI) software. I will work with you to develop a framework and messaging around what you are seeking in the future, and then align your experience accordingly, as well as identify key wins that are of high interest by recruiters and hiring managers. I believe in the pragmatic resume. There are too many decision-makers involved when vetting you as a candidate, so I take the pragmatic approach to ensure you are not making mistakes that could cost you from receiving an interview, and in turn, a chance to improve your livelihood. I change lives by offering solutions that are the backbone for your emotional, financial, familial, and leisure experiences. Without a well-paying job and a satisfying career, many people will lose all that they have from lifestyle to family. This is not a Band-Aid. This is not an “I’ll write your resume” magic bullet that you think you need. I provide a complete package so that you have the tools to navigate the competitive job market and come out shining and successful.

Career Coach
MJW Careers
February 2009 - Present
Delivering customized 1-to-1 career coaching and consulting services covering a variety of topics including the aforementioned, as well as individual career assessments, job hunting training, transition techniques, career path identification, hiring manager/recruiter outreach, job loss counseling, networking opportunities, salary negotiations, and mock interviews. I understand the overall staffing and recruitment process from the job description origin to the induction process and everything in between. I work to eliminate what's holding you back in your job search, which may be your online presence, ATS, lack of quality job applications, not trying to tap the hidden job market and utilize backdoor job hunting strategies, or quite frankly just selling yourself short. There could be a number of things, and everyone is different, so I am curious to find out what your issues are so we can recalibrate together and work a smart, strategic plan to find your next role. Remember, finding a job is a job, I'm here to help. We will work to define your core value and how that informs your resume, LinkedIn profile, networking efforts, job interviews, and even your self-concept.

Interview Coach
MJW Careers
February 2009 - Present
Covering the basics to in-depth elements of the interviewing process, I will prepare you for interviews by analyzing your past interview sessions to find out what can be improved, and build a plan that helps you improve for future interviews. We’ll accomplish this through live simulations of real interviews to help make your interviews less stressful and more successful. Every interview training program is customized to your needs, so we will work on improving your problem areas so you can shine your way into a new career that's right for you.

Technical Recruiter
Various companies
May 2003 - December 2011
Appointed as a technical recruiter for both in-house HR teams (PNC Bank, Johnson Controls, Barnes Distribution, Goodrich, Dealer Tire) and agency (Aerotek). Managed the full-cycle recruiting process including job description creation, requisition opening, sourcing, phone interviewing/screening, negotiation, offer-to-hire, preliminary testing and background investigation, and candidate close through on-boarding. Successfully placed 2K+ candidates throughout tenure into work assignments spanning all industries. Created Career Connect Future Hires Program for California (Cypress College, Los Angeles Trade Technical, Fresno City College), Arizona (Gateway) and Nevada (College of Southern Nevada), which provides equipment donations to the schools and allows for 5 top seniors to enter into Johnson Controls as apprentice service technicians. Initiated and engaged in on-campus lectures and resume seminars to students at all HVAC/R Applied Sciences programs in CA, NV and AZ, as well as a panelist at the bi-annual USC Career Planning and Placement Center career fair.
