I'm Luis, an incoming Associate at BCG's Boston office. I grew up in Panama, left at 16 on a scholarship to boarding school in Connecticut, and went on to become the first Panamanian graduate of Colby College, where I double-majored in Economics and Neuroscience. During undergrad, I completed three consulting internships at Pointe Advisory, BCE Consulting, and Analysis Group, which gave me a ground-level understanding of what firms actually look for in candidates. I applied for deferred MBA admission to four programs, interviewed at all four, and was admitted to Harvard Business School, Wharton, and Columbia Business School. I'll be attending HBS after my time at BCG. I also built a Central America college admissions pipeline at Colby to help students from the region navigate the same process I went through. Coaching is a natural extension of that work.

Luis’s MBA Qualifications

I went 3-for-4 on deferred MBA admits, earning offers from Harvard Business School, Wharton, and Columbia Business School, and interviewing at all four programs I applied to, including Stanford GSB. I did it from Colby College, a small liberal arts school with no MBA pipeline and no on-campus consulting recruiting, which meant I had to build my own path to three consulting internships during undergrad and, eventually, an offer to join BCG in Boston. That background shapes how I coach. I know what it takes to build a candidacy when you don't have an obvious brand behind you or a network handing you introductions. On the deferred MBA side, I can help you find the through-line in your story, pressure-test your essays, and prepare for interviews that reward specificity over polish. On consulting recruiting, I've been through case interviews at every level and coached peers through them, and I can help you get from "I don't know what a case is" to a confident, structured performance. Why do I coach?

I coach because I've seen firsthand how much of a difference the right guidance makes. When I was preparing for consulting recruiting, I had to figure most of it out on my own, with no one in my family or network who had been through the process. I got there, but it was harder than it needed to be. For my deferred MBA applications, I worked with a coach, and the difference was night and day. Having someone who knew the process, could pressure-test my narrative, and kept me focused on what actually mattered made me a sharper applicant. I interviewed at all four schools I applied to and was admitted to HBS, Wharton, and Columbia. That experience is exactly why I coach now. I know what it feels like to go at it alone, and I know how much faster you move with someone in your corner. I want to give my clients both: the tactical knowledge that comes from recent, real results, and the kind of honest, invested support that made the biggest difference for me.
