I went 3-for-4 on deferred MBA admits, earning offers from Harvard Business School, Wharton, and Columbia Business School, and interviewing at all four programs I applied to, including Stanford GSB. I did it from Colby College, a small liberal arts school with no MBA pipeline and no on-campus consulting recruiting, which meant I had to build my own path to three consulting internships during undergrad and, eventually, an offer to join BCG in Boston. That background shapes how I coach. I know what it takes to build a candidacy when you don't have an obvious brand behind you or a network handing you introductions.
