Kimberly Hill Knott is a public policy strategist, government engagement professional, and nationally recognized advocate with nearly three decades of experience helping communities and organizations navigate government, influence public policy, build effective coalitions, and turn priorities into action. Kimberly began her public service career as a Capitol Hill intern in Washington, D.C., where she gained firsthand knowledge of the federal legislative process and how congressional offices shape policy and address constituent needs. She later spent over a decade in the Detroit district office of Congressman John Conyers, Jr., collaborating with residents, organizations, officials, and agencies to resolve concerns, connect constituents with resources, and advocate for Detroiters' priorities. This experience provided her with a practical understanding of how legislation, agency actions, constituent services, and community advocacy intersect to produce meaningful results. Kimberly then served as Policy Director at Detroiters Working for Environmental Justice, advancing policies on environmental justice, sustainability, public health, climate resilience, and community empowerment. She engaged government representatives and stakeholders to translate community concerns into policy priorities and foster collaboration among residents, advocates, experts, and decision-makers. As leader of the Detroit Climate Action Collaborative, she guided the development of Detroit's first Climate Action Plan and later chaired the City of Detroit Green Task Force Climate Action Committee. She also served on the City of Detroit Board of Zoning Appeals, promoting public participation in local decision-making. Her climate leadership earned national recognition through the White House Champions of Change Award. Facilitating dialogue among policymakers, community members, advocates, and leaders has been central to Kimberly's career. She has organized legislative roundtables on environmental justice, convened forums for residents to engage with state legislators, and hosted discussions on energy affordability and violence prevention to connect residents directly with public officials. Kimberly has also brought parents and Members of Congress together to discuss affordable childcare and nutrition assistance, including SNAP, preparing parents to participate effectively and share their experiences to inform federal policy. As a Parent Facilitator for a regional childcare coalition, she expanded opportunities for parents to influence policy on childcare access, affordability, and quality. Kimberly is President and CEO of Future Insight Consulting (FIC) LLC, where she helps organizations turn policy priorities into action. She connects clients with political candidates, elected officials, legislative staff, agency representatives, and other decision-makers, guiding them to clarify policy goals, understand government processes, communicate with public officials, and build strategic partnerships. Her work draws on her expertise in public policy analysis, legislative and administrative navigation, and relationship-building to help organizations develop strategies that influence decisions and deliver measurable results. As a respected public speaker and workshop presenter, Kimberly has addressed topics such as environmental justice, the Clean Air Act's impact on marginalized communities, urban climate resilience, advocacy, civic engagement, and Christians' role in public life. Her audiences have included the World Bank, the Oxford University Alumni Association, the Congressional Black Caucus Foundation Annual Legislative Conference, the Center for American Progress, the Center for Climate and Energy Solutions, and the African Methodist Episcopal Presiding Elder's Yearly Conference, to name a few. Kimberly holds degrees from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee and Temple University, a certificate in Sustainable Management from Duke University, and completed Harvard University's Women and Power executive education program as a full-scholarship recipient. She serves as Political Relations Director at her church and lives in Detroit with her husband and child.
