About Jasmine
I’m currently a Coterm student at Stanford University finishing up a BA in Psychology and a Masters of Science in Computer Science, with a focus on Human-Computer Interaction. During my first year at Stanford, I worked as a Marketing & Communications intern for an EdTech startup based out of Singapore, developing and implementing a marketing and SEO strategy. Through this internship, I realized my passion for problem-solving in team settings and pivoted to management consulting. For the past two summers, I worked as a Summer Business Analyst at McKinsey & Company, helping build tailored solutions for our clients and exploring a wide range of industries from sustainability to petrochemicals to tech. This past summer, I'm took the interpersonal and technical skills I've learned to the tech industry to intern as a Project Manager in the Product Operations branch at the mid-sized software company Alteryx. After I graduate, however, I will be returning to McKinsey full-time as a Business Analyst. While at Stanford, I’ve been a part of Stanford Consulting, a student-run consulting organization focused on providing students with real-world experience and providing clients with results. Last year, I’ve had the opportunity to be a Project Director, which involves sourcing clients for the organization and leading a team of 5 wonderful consultants through two client engagements over the course of the year. When I’m not attending classes or hopping on client calls, I’m working as a Research Assistant in Professor Jeanne Tsai’s Culture & Emotion lab. I’m currently helping run a study investigating the effects of ideal emotions and responses to good news on relationship satisfaction in American and Japanese couples. In my spare time, I love travelling the world, trying new foods, and testing out my psych theories on my significant other.
Why do I coach?
I coach because I understand firsthand the challenges of navigating the complexities of the consulting recruiting process without proper guidance. During the consulting recruiting process, I found myself in a unique position. With immigrant parents who were unfamiliar with casing, case prep, or the intricacies of consulting recruitment, I had to embark on this journey alone. I felt a profound sense of isolation as I worked tirelessly to prepare myself and gather information. Countless hours were spent simply understanding what casing entailed and how to approach it effectively, before even being able to refine my casing skills. Being on the other end of the process, I realized that having someone who had walked a similar path, understood the intricacies of the process, and could offer valuable insights would have made a world of difference. Coaching matters to me because I believe in the transformative power of mentorship. I understand the challenges individuals may encounter, and I am passionate about helping them overcome these hurdles. Through coaching, I can make a meaningful impact on the lives and careers of others, providing them with the support I wish I had received. By sharing insights, strategies, and encouragement, I aspire to empower aspiring consultants and guide them towards achieving their goals.
