Mike has helped clients get into these schools:
As an undergraduate student, I was rejected from 20+ dental schools because I lacked guidance on the application process. However, with an unwavering desire to become a dentist, I pursued a Master’s in Dental Sciences. During this time, I seized the opportunity to redeem myself—improving my GPA, building strong connections for personal recommendation letters, enhancing my personal statement and supplemental application writing skills, and gaining more clinical, research, leadership, and volunteering experiences. The second time I applied to dental school, despite my efforts, I received only one interview. However, I successfully navigated the interview and was accepted. In my third year of dental school, I decided to specialize in periodontology. When applying for residency, I applied to only three programs, interviewed at all three, ranked only my top choice—and still matched! I share my story because I want to show you that it is possible to go from being a 3.2 GPA international (Canadian) student with zero extracurricular experiences to confidently matching into my top-choice specialty residency program (with a <1.5% match rate). I've faced the same obstacles that many of you will encounter, and I’ve learned how to overcome them. With the momentum I've built through my pre-doctoral school experience, I've also understand what it takes to stay ahead of the curve and maintain a competitive standing for residency applications. Over the years, I’ve helped dozens of students with dental school and residency applications and interviews. Whatever your needs may be, I hope to serve as a beacon of light, guiding you through this exciting yet challenging (and often confusing) stage of your academic journey!

Why do I coach?
I coach because I know what it feels like to work incredibly hard and still feel like you’re running in circles. As a first-generation college student, I went through the pre-dental path without a coach or clear guidance. I was figuring everything out on my own — from optimizing coursework, seeking extracurriculars, crafting personal statements and supplemental application answers, selecting a school list, to practicing interviewing skills. It turned into a lot of trial and error, with rushed and poorly timed efforts. Ultimately, that lack of direction cost me a lot of time, money, and energy. Later on, I was fortunate to find incredible mentors who helped me think strategically, refine my story, and approach the process with intention. That shift changed everything, and it's something I'll always be grateful for. All my mentors asked was that one day I pay it forward, so I want to use my expertise to help other students, especially those who find themselves in a similar situation as I once did, lost in this complex, yet, very important process. I’ve experienced both sides; being rejected without interviews from 50+ dental schools across two application cycles, to later confidently matching into the top (and only) residency program I applied to. That journey is proof of the power of mentorship, and it shapes how I guide my students today. To me, coaching is about shortening the learning curve. I want to help students move forward with clarity, confidence, and strategy. Though I don't regret my path at all, it doesn’t mean you have to take the long way around to achieve your dream of becoming a dentist. I’ve always been passionate about teaching and mentorship, whether working with students or coaching dragon boat. Being part of someone’s growth and helping them unlock their potential is what drives me. This path to dentistry can feel daunting and overwhelming, but it’s also incredibly exciting and rewarding. It would be my pleasure and honor to help make your academic journey more clear, streamlined, and enjoyable.
