Leadership challenges rarely stop at the edge of the situation. The ones that keep recurring, despite your best efforts, usually have a personal dimension: a pattern in how you manage others, a story you've stopped questioning, a reaction that keeps pulling you off course. I work with public and social-sector leaders at precisely that intersection. My approach draws on Adaptive Leadership — a methodology developed over forty years at the Harvard Kennedy School — and on adult development theory, which offers a rigorous framework for understanding how we grow and what gets in the way. Together, these help us look at both the system you're trying to move and the inner dynamics that shape how you're meeting it. My coaching sessions are unhurried and attentive, and follow your sense-making rather than a set path. I ask questions more than I give answers. I'm not afraid to name what I notice — a tension, an incongruity, a place where something seems to tighten — and I work to make it safe enough that you can look at it directly. That's usually where the most important work happens.

About Géraud
I was raised across the US, France, and India, in a family devoted to creating social impact. Questions of identity — who am I to others? — and of purpose — will my life have meaning? — were early companions, though the answers I gave them have changed with time. As a result, I’ve spent a lot of my life connecting the dots: between cultures, between disciplines, between scales of work and of change. I started my career in both design and social practice: first with a leading architecture nonprofit, building hospitals, schools, and powerful memorial projects; then as a consultant to the United Nations and to various city governments. I moved between the human scale of built space, on the one hand, and the abstract scale of policy and systems, on the other. I landed in leadership education and coaching because this is where the two meet: the people inside the structures, and the structures inside the people. As a coach, my disposition is to provide holding and care to the people I work with – without being afraid to challenge them, or to draw nonjudgmental attention to the incongruities in their thinking that point to important knots. I'm influenced by Buddhist meditation practice and somatics: the body is often the first to know what the mind hasn't yet admitted.
Why do I coach?
I'm convinced that our ability to achieve anything meaningful together starts with how we're doing inside. The way we think, and how we relate to others, shapes everything we create. It only makes sense that this deserves focused attention. I was an anxious, highly sensitive young adult. With hard work — and capable support — I found my own ground. I coach because there is nothing I enjoy more than the gift of sitting with somebody, bearing witness to their soft parts, and helping them discover that the foundation they need is already there.
