About Dumi
I spent three years leading the international business at wikiHow before pursuing my MBA and MA in Education at Stanford. I’m originally from Zimbabwe and first came to the U.S. on a full-ride undergraduate scholarship to Stanford, so I know firsthand how life-changing the opportunity to study in the U.S. can be. Over the years, I’ve helped several people navigate applications to U.S. colleges and graduate schools. At Stanford GSB, I served as both an Admissions Ambassador and an Arbuckle Coaching Fellow, experiences that gave me a deeper understanding of the admissions process as well as how to coach people toward their individual goals. I bring both perspectives to my work with applicants: helping you tell your story authentically, understand what makes you stand out, and build an application that reflects where you’ve been and where you want to go. Outside of work, I enjoy watching comedy shows with my husband, playing with my cat Sabrina, and hiking around the San Francisco Bay Area.
Why do I coach?
I am where I am today in large part because of people who helped me see my own potential and coached me in the skill of telling my story in a compelling way. I come from a culture where self-promotion doesn't always come naturally, so learning to advocate for myself and communicate what I bring to the table has been a learned skill. It's one I'm excited to pass on to others, especially those whose backgrounds or experiences may make it harder to recognize, own, and articulate what makes them exceptional.
