I’ll work with you to identify the throughline in your background, refine your positioning, and ensure that your personal statement, resume, and overall application tell a consistent and compelling story. Whether you’re applying straight from school or after time in the workforce, my goal is to help you present an application that feels intentional and differentiated – such that top programs feel like they would be missing out if they didn't admit you. For MPP applications specifically, I help you go beyond simply stating your interest in policy and instead articulate a clear, credible pathway from your past experiences to your future impact. Policy schools are looking for more than strong academics – they want to understand your specific policy area, the types of issues you care about, and how you plan to engage with institutions, communities, or governments down the line. I’ll work with you to define your policy interests, sharpen your goals, and craft essays that demonstrate both intellectual seriousness and real-world motivation. Whether you're coming from government, the private sector, or a less typical background, I’ll help you position your experiences in a way that resonates with admissions committees and shows that you’ll meaningfully contribute to the classroom and beyond.

About Ashley
Hello, I'm Ashley! As an incoming JD/MPP Harvard Law School and Harvard Kennedy School student with an international background, I know how opaque and stressful the law/graduate school admissions process can feel, especially if you’re aiming high and/or coming from a non-traditional background. The top schools are not just seeking applicants who stand out – they are looking for people they cannot imagine the class without. I’ve learned that the most successful applications are rarely about checking boxes; they are about telling a persuasive story on why your perspective, experiences or future potential is indispensable to the school and your prospective peers. I hope to help you by: ✔ Building a strategic school list with you that is aligned with your goals, risk tolerance, and post-graduation priorities ✔ Position your experiences effectively, even if you may not always feel the most confident about them ✔ Brainstorming essay topics that feel authentic and differentiated ✔ Editing your essays (in detail!) for structure, clarity, and impact so your writing is sharp, persuasive, and cohesive across materials ✔ Refining your CV to present a cohesive story of your achievements and leadership qualities for competitive applications ✔ Providing tips on staying engaged with schools, based on insights I've gained from navigating the process myself If you’re looking for someone who will be honest, strategic, and genuinely invested in your story (and not just your stats), I’d love to work together.
Why do I coach?
I’ve been through it myself – from applying to an unconventional undergraduate dual degree program, to landing a politics adjacent role in Manhattan, to applying to law and public policy schools and landing merit scholarships worth >$350K. I applied to 10 law schools and several Masters programs, eventually gaining admission to Harvard Law and Harvard Kennedy separately before deciding to pursue both. As a first-generation applicant, much of that process involved figuring things out without an inherited roadmap. Prior to this, I worked in strategic/crisis communications in New York City, where I helped clients shape complex narratives and served on the hiring committee at various junctures. I also served as a Writing Center fellow at Columbia, where I helped students score top grades in their classes and successfully land professional opportunities. I know what it feels like to feel lost during the process, and understand how hard it can be when you're ambitious but unsure of where to even begin. I'd love to help you achieve your goals – by helping you craft a compelling narrative about who you are, even if the activities you've engaged in might seem disparate from one another. Whether you’re refining essays, preparing for interviews, or trying to crack standardized tests, my goal is to help you figure out what makes your story compelling – and how to communicate it clearly and convincingly to those evaluating you.
