About Akin
Thanks for stopping by and welcome to my profile! My name is Akin Obiri and I am passionate about helping young (and old) people chart their path to success. My career has been spent largely serving in higher education admissions, primarily in graduate business and law focusing specifically on MBA and JD admissions. I have served on admissions committee, logged thousands of hours of interviewing with prospective candidates, and have reviewed over 4,000 applications over the course of my career. Outside of coaching, I am a retired D1 soccer player and veteran of the PA Army National Guard with prior experience in law enforcement, too. Why do I coach?
Why do I coach? Great question. My coming of age story reads much like a late bloomer--I didn't always know the right steps to take to unlock doors or figure out how to access the ever elusive pathway to success. I, like many, didn't know what I didn't know. But as I learned and charted my own path, I was able to learn valuable lessons, forge powerful bonds, and expand my professional network. Knowledge is indeed power and as I think about my legacy, I want it to be remembered one day as being "he who has watered."
