I got into business school with a full scholarship on my third try... I also got accepted to three T20 business schools, with full rides at two of them and a partial ride at the third. For years, I worked as a management consultant while pursuing my MBA applications. But those first two attempts were consumed by perfectionism. I was obsessed with crafting the perfect story, hitting the perfect GMAT score, making sure every single element was flawless. I was listening to so much noise online about what I needed to be a standout candidate, what it would take to get scholarships, how I had to optimize everything. That noise paralyzed me. I was also leaning heavily on prep programs like Forte, MLT, Manhattan Prep, Sherpa prep, and other external resources, thinking that was the missing piece. But no matter what I tried, I couldn't hit that apply button. It wasn't until my third attempt that everything changed. I stopped using the additional prep programs. I stopped chasing perfection. I finally decided that my story and what I had to offer mattered so much more that being perfect.
